This is challenging on where to go or what to do.... since u get shot so much from every angle sometimes. I agree u can't rush through most levels. Try my Laser Catcher Grounds. Very difficult. Every room have different ideas to solveing it. If you have patience. Enjoy.

I used the hammer editor. You can download it for free. Go to steam, click the tab up top, View, Tools, Portal 2 Authoring Tools - Beta. It has everything you need in there. I recommend you watch videos on how to use hammer if you're new to it. It can be complicated or confusing. I'm actually still at the basics myself.

How did you do some of the things where there was just on by such or so on with the non portal blocks like in portal (1)
