Yeah I know what you mean, alot of the shadows in AOE2 happen to be black, especially the small ones & I just left it as it is.

Sorry I wasn't that clear, for the pillar that you added in the old stone heads it has a black shadow, if you look at trees and buildings made by the creators the shadow is a much lighter color than all black. Just imagine yourself in the shade of a large tree in the park during the day, the shadow won't be completely black, some of the light is blocked by the tree but not all.

The thing I would change is having the shadows be a lighter color to match other shadows, in real life it wouldn't be a completely jet black shadow, you would still be able to see if there were other angles of light reaching where you are.

This is kind of similar although it's an akx file and doesn't seem to have a shadow.
