Interesting concept! I tend to use a lot of this behind the scenes sort of stuff in my maps , and it uses up a lot of part count.

I have used the track platform method to make patterns of light bridges, laser fields, pistons and excursion funnels turn on and off at various durations, usually 2-5 seconds.

I actually tried it now and it works somothly and would probably work in some cases but for this one porbably not because the panels stay on the path and its too slow. but I can use the for stairs! :D

I personally use a track platform to block the lasers. It offers a more reliable pattern, allowing to increase the duration of piston activation or deactivation.
