what's the deal with lakes michigan, eerie, huron, and superior?
they're all heighted at -2, when almost all of the southeastern states are set to -4

so if i set the water to -10 (or -25 like some comments suggest) then the lakes become vast empty glaciers, and if i set it to -2 like i need to for water to appear in the lakes, then we lose about 10 states to the ocean, atlantis style

is there any way around this issue or some other setting i need to check?

It's clear to me that in this map you cannot drink a clear water from a near water source, cause you don't have any companies to manage that. It's better if you pick a place near the coast or more known rivers.

Also, to fix the Simcity name issue, (Which isn't the maps fault) just goto your game's local files > pak128 > text and open the citylist_en (or which ever corresponds to your games language) and add more names to this file. All I did was copy names from the other citylist files (the en_us one has over 4000 names, so just copy those into your citylist file. Done.)

America is a continent, North America is a sub-continent/continent (can be classed as either). Although people often call the USA America, it is not a shorthand and people call it by the wrong name. It is USA (United Sstates of America) not Aamerica.

To anybody who does noot know how to mod this:
To begin go to documents in file explorer. Then you click the "Simutrans" Folder.
Then you add a file called "Addons" then inside make another folder called "pak128".
Then you put the "pak" files in that folder.
"pak" files look like the internet explorer logo.
I hope that helped.

North America is the continent. America is shorthand for the country. Technically the image of (the continent of) North America is missing the northern part: Nunavit, Yukon, Alaska, Greenland, and a bit of the very southernmost of Central America.

I looked up the map over at Simutrans Maps and i can conclude that the real name of this map is:

"United States and Central America"

Why did you mislead us?

Actually, a good 60~80% of Canadians live in th area of Canada that is included in this map (Non-inclusive of the indigenous people), soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, just saying, it's still somewhat accurate.

Guys, as an american, this is the map of the world minus Hawaii and Alaska. Not sure why they're not in the bottom left corner.
