Pro mlg tip, these drones do not work in space
Ickleslimer 18. juli 2016 kl. 5:09
Have you ever thought of making drone versions? I really really like your design style but sometimes for more specialized missions I wish I could implement my own control into it from a remote location. I mean, it would even further revolutionize the way these work. Hell, here's an idea.

Drone control station: From here drones can be launched out whilst a team of engineers controls each drone individually from within a bunker. You could create small mobile armies, and yet with absoloutely no risk to the operator.

Alright thanks.

@ Exphiser919 / There is a button on the back of the Rollbot. Just push it and it will cycle / loop through the phases, yes.
nobu 20. juni 2016 kl. 18:50
Does it automatically cycle between the 3 modes or do you have to press the button a certain amount of times for it to switch modes? (I'm guessing automatically cycle)

@The Miner / the guns... I don't think the kick back affects Rollbot. And if it falls on the side you get a special Steam achievement "Flippin' the unflippable"
TheWorkingMan43 20. juni 2016 kl. 6:12
do the guns have kickback and what if it falls on it's side
BANAN 20. juni 2016 kl. 0:42
dich has been detected
Dai'khairai 19. juni 2016 kl. 23:37
probly not just blow up my garage anyway
Dai'khairai 19. juni 2016 kl. 23:37
im going to mod it with shields then those pesky hounds will fear me
Colony 19. juni 2016 kl. 17:11
Step Three: Profit!
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 19. juni 2016 kl. 14:34
@wyemine / It has 2 x 600 meters range because gatling turrets come with their own detection. It has 100 meters detection for neutral and friendly.
callme-jk 19. juni 2016 kl. 14:28
wtf... - nice idea. xD
Voodoo†man 19. juni 2016 kl. 13:20
Awesome bot! robots are better than drones))
Tangent 19. juni 2016 kl. 12:26
These are a great ersatz AA grid. It is a little sad how they crumble so defeated-like if they're hit centre-of-mass, but that just makes them more endearing. I also enjoy making 'herds' of these things.
Cloud 19. juni 2016 kl. 7:46
goes it only fire at targets that are under 100m away?
cause that would suck
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 19. juni 2016 kl. 5:57
@Striker / Yes. As I said earlier - I tested it against a single rocket turret and it didn't survive the hit. Rollbot is intended for the applications that you said. Its benefits are that it's autonomous and very cheap. And I don't like perfect stuff - especially in a war game. Everything should have a weak spot by design for fair play- Rollbot has a weak armor. Also - tanks are boring. Robots are the future :)

@wyemine / Small kamikaze robot is already in the collection:

Cloud 19. juni 2016 kl. 4:36
make a small kamakaze version
STRIKER 19. juni 2016 kl. 4:23
im sorry to say, but if you ever encounter an armored vehicle (I.e. a tank) or a station/ship with turrets then this will most likely be obliterated on the spot.

this is in no means a bad creation don't get me wrong, but other than patrols, hunting smuglers and scavangers, and light reconaissance this to me as little to no millitary aplication (except maybe harrassing the enemy and pissing him off).

anything from mines, traps and other explosives to an LAV or a tank could downright demolish the thing in the matter of seconds, even ramming it or trapping it in a trench might work as well
Alterran Longbow🐀 19. juni 2016 kl. 2:06
Comparison Vs standard propulsion methods
Thrusters, much more expensive and power costly.
Wheels, just too buggy.
Single gyro, Most of the expenses are in timer blocks. No known bugs to do with override controls.
maxgb2000 18. juni 2016 kl. 20:44
A seat that stays upright at all times would make that easier
FPC 18. juni 2016 kl. 20:17
All of these are pure genius. If you figure out a way to create a steerable hamster ball for us to sit in, it may be the best rover yet. Since wheels are so godawful ;)
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 18. juni 2016 kl. 18:08
@Tangent / Thank you. That's a nice comment. I can't get ALL of my robots to work - but I only publish those that actually do work.
Tangent 18. juni 2016 kl. 17:37
You're just kinda going bonkers with this whole rolling thing huh? I think you've found your niche. I can't get any other of these autonomous droids to work except yours, so I'm excited for this.
45darkstar 17. juni 2016 kl. 10:41
Thanks. They are great and expendable seeing as they are so cheap to make. 4 can take down a rocket turret but I found that placing a rocket turret on the roller causes it to slide when it fires. Although I have not got round to trying it yet, one idea is to use decoys (dropped or something) and make a sort of flail. By flail i mean pertruding arms to ballance and absorb rocket fire. They are amazing for a first design though! Y(^-^)
Decagon 17. juni 2016 kl. 10:38
It's a cool bot for sure, but put it in low gravity and you can do all sorts of impossible things, like flipping it. Which I happened to do. I'll have to make a note to only use 'em on planets, I guess. :P
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 17. juni 2016 kl. 8:11
@45darkstar / thank you for your field test. I tested them against a rocket turret and they are just not tough enough to survive a solid hit. So your feedback really helps. Rollbot is designed to deal with easier targets, I guess.
45darkstar 17. juni 2016 kl. 3:33
I have tried them in drop pod fasion against the pirate base mars world and they did some sirious damage! I have modified them with a poximity bomb and they seem to work well as rolling, raging bunker busters also!
A Smug, Evil Grin 16. juni 2016 kl. 20:14
Man you are incredible. FINALLY we have some easy-to-build automation for the game! Cant wait for a mining probe!
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 16. juni 2016 kl. 20:14
@Basch_III / They are meant to roam the whole planet but during the second phase they steer a bit to the right so yes, they do make a circle of sorts. If you want a smaller circle for base defense I suggest you make the phase 1 (MOVE) shorter and phase 2 (PROWL) longer using the timers.
Gargamel 16. juni 2016 kl. 9:00
Add atomo or Ion thrusters to the sides so it can prevent drop. (Ion for the moon) STILL LOVE IT!
Basch_III 16. juni 2016 kl. 8:39
Do they maintain a certain range (radius) to where they have been deployed, or do they continue straight ahead?
SievertChaser 16. juni 2016 kl. 0:36
It's a Kugelpanzer!
Gargamel 15. juni 2016 kl. 19:15
I think this is a good start for such a idea and I can't wait to try it out and see what I can learn from this great idea!:steambored::steamhappy:
Peekofwar 15. juni 2016 kl. 17:16
Informative... It's deceptive! Just like fire in an environment that has no oxygen!
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 15. juni 2016 kl. 16:42
@Peekofwar / The turrets on the side actually occupy a 3x3x3 area so the game sees Rollbot as a rolling cylinder 7 grids wide and 5 grids tall even though it looks the opposite. Hard to flip. The planet where I released a bunch of them has yet to see one flipped. They do fall into pits from which they can't get out though.
Peekofwar 15. juni 2016 kl. 8:44
@budisourdog I don't think you can control a turret while controlling a remote control block. Didn't they make it so you have to be in a cockpit to use a turret anyways?
Peekofwar 15. juni 2016 kl. 8:41
This design looks like it could be flipped; flipped onto its side and then it'd just be spinning.
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 14. juni 2016 kl. 16:52
@Everyone in the community that tried to help with the turret issues / Thank you for your feedback :D
Bruce LeedleLeedleLeedleLee 14. juni 2016 kl. 16:04
I've also faced the turret problem in an attempt to build a rolling rocket turret mine. they seem to be too slow at adjusting for high speeds
S O U P 14. juni 2016 kl. 14:46
It's the sawn-off of robots, easy to make but not to be fucked with
Ω Spriggan Ω 14. juni 2016 kl. 12:57
I suppose you could see if there is any laser turret mods so the thing could be powered by energy alone reducing the need for bullets and making it lighter....of course that'll need another mod. :P
Ω Spriggan Ω 14. juni 2016 kl. 12:56
hahaha i love it. XD

now we need to add the turret sounds from portal or bioshock with a soundblock mod and add a sensor for it to play the turret noises when it spots something!

"Whos there?"
"Target Acquired!"
Dragon Engineer 14. juni 2016 kl. 9:09
I believe for you to be able to access the turrets, you first have to have an antenna and a remote control block, then make sure you own all of those blocks. I am not positive that you need a remote control block because I have not used it much before, if nothing else works try taking control of the remote control, then access the control panel and control the turret. That should work, i'll do some messing around with it to see if i'm correct.
Dragon Engineer 14. juni 2016 kl. 8:48
Im thinking a drop pod, with four of these droping in to provide support to foot soldiers. keen should really add some friendly NPCs. Really nice build and looking forward to more of your creative designs.
parkasever  [ophavsmand] 14. juni 2016 kl. 8:13
Well said! I wish Rollbot was tougher but at least it's very cheap, packs a punch and best of all - you can drop a few of them on a planet and forget about them.
SGC | Sernikb 14. juni 2016 kl. 7:14
this design is simple and efficient like ak-47 , i love it !
