i know its been awhile but wondering if there is any plans to update this. i can see this mod going well with the modual encounters and stuff to look for hidden enemies

When i go into grid view or voxel view it does not show planets, even if if crash right into them. just a few yellow dots? am i using this wrong?

Hello,

Mine is also crashing upon placing the projector (SP open to friends), crashlog says about nulreferences, can produce one if needed.

I'm sorry to say that when the projector was attached to a block, the game crashed. Since I do not know where the crash logs are stored, I can not show you.

Sorry it took so long guys, but I think I fixed it. It seems to work in single player. I had to change some things to do with voxels.

I am mildly optimistic, but there may be some issues in multiplayer or in the functioning of voxelview. Let me know if you find any.

Hopefully there will be no big changes from Keen that break my mod again. It's hard to find the time to keep fixing things. It's a pretty big mod so a lot can be broken. Also, every time this happens I have been away from SE just long enough to have to reacquaint myself with the mod, trying to understand how everything works and such. That's pretty time-consuming.

I'm glad to hear this mod is not abanonded. It is, by far, the most useful radar of all the mods I have tried, partly because it is easy to adjust from a toolbar, but also because it presents data in an immediately useful way. look forward to when it is working again.

P.S. Have you ever tried approaching Keen to get this included in the vanilla game?SE needs a radar block, and this seems like a good candidate (though "nobody needs ladders" Rosa might disagree :P )

Was hoping it would be a quick fix, but that is not the case. They updated the voxelsystem which made voxel model generation not work. I am not sure how to fix this quickly so I turned it off. Then some more errors cropped up. I need more time to fix it. In 2 weeks I have 2 weeks off. So I might be able to fix it in May.

No problem. By the way, today I added voxelview. It is now possible to zoom in on objects and see the voxelterrain around them in appropriate detail. The more you zoom in the more voxel detail you will see. I am limited to 2500 lines (the linelimit is 3k i think, but i leave 500 to draw grids and such). It is cool to fly around a donut asteroid with various zoomlevels on and see what it looks like. Everything is threaded (parallel processing) so should not reduce sim speed.

I may take a look at the dedicated server thing when I have more time, but it is pretty difficult for me to test. Many players volunteer their dedicated server for me to test stuff on, but really testing means it will crash many times a day and thats no fun when you also want to actually use the thing for something.

As for your question about a missile script: It is totally possible. Check the forum link in the description above. I have some example scripts and properties. There is a "SelectedType" property. If you iterate over all entities that are detected by the projector, you can check if they are within a certain range and then perform some action. Missile is one of the types.

Remember to turn the detection of other stuff off (grids, asteroids etc.), otherwise you will be detecting maybe 100 items and iterate over them every frame. While that is totally possible, I can't guarantee it will not cause some load, especially if you have several ships running the projector and script.

- The gridview seems to work fine. I started up a lone survivor map, placed a holo projector, turned on the projection and gridview and the station showed up as a grid. I don't know what could be going wrong for you. I would need more information. Remember that gridview might not work as well in MP, where the client has less information about far away grids. Also, large grids take a short time to calculate. They recalculate every once in a while. While the grid is not yet calculated, it shows icons.

- The icon size is hardcoded to the current limit. The reason is that if the cubes becomes smaller, the lines disappear. If you set the projection size really small, you will notice that the size of the icons stops getting smaller at some point (maybe at setting 0.4 or 0.5 or such). Setting the icon size smaller than that will not have any effect, because it will reach the games' limit for line segments. If you have a large projection size, then the icon size can go down further.

I do remember there being one problem though. There is a hardcoded minimal size for the line segments. It is possible the lines just won't show up if I allow them to be smaller than they are now. I'll check this out. See if I can stretch it a bit more.

@Innoble , thanks, this is awesome news. Here's a screenshot of my cockpit [i.imgur.com] - you can see that icons are indeed way to big (display settings are 10km, 0.3m, 10km and icon size is minimal). It would be cool to make them two or three times smaller.
As for missile detection script - I'm using the Guided missiles mod that add not only missiles but also flare launchers so it would be cool to make a script that would launch them on missile detection.

I'll have a look at it over the weekend. See if I can fix it, including the grid view. You should be able to make a script that reacts to a missile, but missiles are very fast and short-lived. I doubt you'd be able to do anything.

Hi @Innoble ! First of all - awesome mod! I'm using it as a central piece in my fighter with custom cockpit and it looks awesome.

Secondly, a small request is it possible to make icons on small ships smaller? I'm trying to move the slider all the way down but I don't see any effect and all icons are still huge and all clogged up (I use a very small projection size).

Grid view doesn't seem to be working, but you're probably aware of that =)

And last and very quick auestion - is it possible to make a script that would trigger something if missile is detected in range?

Thank you for your help. Indeed before I disturb you I would have to test in creative. It is fully functional in creative and it is a great mod for the moment I will just use the radar, not serious I would do my regalge with each connection;) Thank you very much for your time! Not sure what you mean by settings resetting. They don't reset for me. I just loaded a game in which i have the projector running with altered settings and they saved.

It is possible if your script changes the settings that it will keep doing that, but that would be a scripting problem.

If you have a vanilla savegame with just my mod and you can share it with me (I think you can upload your world to workshop) I can see if i can fix it. It will be a lot easier to explain the problem anyway.

To make it work i did for the Timer Block:

-Run progblock
-TriggerNow on the timer block

Let me check the settings thing, they should save.

Thank you for your help, yes I checked and copied the three names of the different blocks used, I already use the script "automatic's LCD" so I know how to use a little bit of the programmable block and the action of the timer block is the next one :

But my screens are still black.

I tested my old example scripts and they still work. I think you may have a scripting problem that has something to do with the block names. In the script you will notice parts that refer to names of blocks in quotes like: "Timer Block". If these do not correspond to the names of your blocks then it will fail.

Also you need to setup a timer block to trigger the programmable block, unless Keen changed something about it so that you no longer need a timer block to loop a script.

If this is the first time you use a script you may need a little more help than that.

I need a little more info than that. Do you know how to use the programmable block? Have you used it before on other scripts?

Also: It has been a while since I looked at the scripting part of the mod. Keen may have changed some things that make the scripting not work anymore. I'll try it myself as well.
