Crashes my game as soon as I add it to the mod list.
Conefed 6. juni 2019 kl. 21:54
Does this work with ability resource packs such as Favid's Perk Pack that add abilities to the game but not to any particular class, normally requiring a modder to manually tag each of the 45 or so abilities.
Garf of the Snarfing God 22. juli 2018 kl. 12:28
Does this mod mess with psi soldiers at all? I can't seem to promote my mind boys.
PopeBruce 11. juni 2018 kl. 22:38
Ya was coming back to play some WOTC but was really hoping for this mod to be compatible. Hope it get's updated because it was always one of my favorites.
Finical 25. maj 2018 kl. 17:36
Oh good. I had trouble finding something like this. I loved the semi-randomized nature of the first game's Second Wave option (I think the first and second skills were always class-related to avoid conflicts or odd effects, though) and I really wanted it in the second game, but realized it wasn't available.

Hope this still works for Vanilla and I really hope you or someone else decide to update it for WotC. Fortunately, I don't have that yet, so I should be fine.

Again, thanks for making this. It's greatly appreciated.
Nobnab 29. aug. 2017 kl. 2:27
With Wotc the the Game won't start. I think the mod break the Game.
i hope the mod becomes an update.
FoldedDice 25. juli 2017 kl. 15:37
Out of curiousity, is there a semi-painless way to disable the functionality that auto-assigns the AWC perks? I would like to put together a custom setup that blurs the line between preset and random.

For example, I would make it so that certain Ranger perks would be able to cross over to the Grenadier tree, but would never come up as an option to a Sharpshooter. To do that I would need to have complete control over which perks get assigned to a given category, which has me rather stuck at the moment.
ZetaZephyr 20. juli 2017 kl. 4:56
It has to be a new campaign.
Rainvan 19. juli 2017 kl. 9:41
@Xzerox I happened to modify it but i haven't seen a change in the skill tree system, will it update only after a level-up or with a new campaign.
Klyern 17. juli 2017 kl. 7:14
@GrimyBunyip have you perhaps considered adding all GTS class perks to all roulete soldiers so that this mod balances itself out on legendary?, maybe another version just for that. I think the only op ones to have on all soldiers would be deadshot and cool under pressure (because reaction fire on everyone). I think having using this mod like that would be quite interesting in LW2 since the campaign lasts so long.
Either way thx for the great mod, i still can't believe most of my surviving troops have pistols lol.
ZetaZephyr 15. juni 2017 kl. 5:47
I've been wondering the same thing after seemingly making the correct ini changes
Alien Waifu $cammer 14. juni 2017 kl. 23:54
Question: This mod works fine for most existing classes, but I have a custom class installed that uses a custom weapon, namely, the Jedi class. How would one edit the files to include the lightsaber and its attached skills?
meyerik 10. juni 2017 kl. 0:16
Champion! much appreciated mate
ZetaZephyr 20. apr. 2017 kl. 4:59
; Training Roulette Class
[TrainingRoulette.GrimyGameState_Unit_TrainingRoulette]
TreeHeight = 8 ; number of ranks
TreeWidth = 3 ; number of perks available per rank
meyerik 19. apr. 2017 kl. 21:34
Hi Xzerox

I saw on another post re roulette you said this

"It works with Long War, you just need to add the 8th rank and 3rd column with an ini edit"

Could you please do a copy and paste of this INI edit? Cheers mate
ZetaZephyr 12. apr. 2017 kl. 15:29
Has anyone figured out how to add the LW2 secondary weapon skills to the mod?
Adamiya 13. mar. 2017 kl. 11:59
@Lava410

i also suffer the same issue as grieves,but i dont know what an ini edit is
arti_llery 14. feb. 2017 kl. 21:41
Only issue I've had so far, is when you roll the same skill twice. You don't get the other skill, it auto selects the one you had already. Other than that it does mix things up.
Stallion 5. jan. 2017 kl. 6:03
Can you make this mod but with the Long War Perk pack pretty please?
Matikanefukukitaru 20. nov. 2016 kl. 5:57
@person below me: No wonder it doesn't work for you when you've got a pirated copy of the game... -.-"
And yes, Workshop DOES work when you're using a game through library sharing, so don't even try to use that excuse...
Lilthara 20. nov. 2016 kl. 3:39
Why its not on nexus ? Its kinda sad cuz i like this mod but workshops mods doesnt work for me
Swiz 22. sep. 2016 kl. 18:15
So I been reading over the comments and was initially happy that people were using "commanders choice" mod which allows you to pick your soldier's class at will. I assumed this would work with that given others had used it but alas at sergeant level they would reroll back to the original class assigned to the soldier, it also prevented any attempts to change the soldier back to the class I had picked for it. This makes sense to me as to why this would happen and I'm going to uninstall the "commanders choice" mod now and see how it rolls.
Swiz 22. sep. 2016 kl. 13:45
Ty! Grimy, if this works as I hope it does than you singlehandlidly made this game fun for me as this is what made EU/EW so much fun in my opinion. I only recently was able to buy and play Xcom2 because of work and to be honest, wasn't having as much fun as I had with the original game and I think it is because of this. I replayed EU/EW so many times over trying to get better and better combinations that beating Ironmanmode games on hardest difficulty became childs play. Hoping this mod will bring that same enthusiam to Xcom2 for me. Ty good sir!
Lava410 17. sep. 2016 kl. 17:54
@2012grievesj

A simple ini edit will fix that.

set treeheight to 8 and width to 3
JWGrieves 16. sep. 2016 kl. 10:27
It removes the brigadier and third skill tree from LW.
Zinkr7x 14. sep. 2016 kl. 13:23
It works with Long War in that way.
Zinkr7x 14. sep. 2016 kl. 13:22
@Lava410
From what I understand, as long as the ability is for a specific weapon, or works for all weapons, and that class can use those weapons, the mod will already take care of that.
Lava410 13. sep. 2016 kl. 22:15
Hey Grimy. I'm looking into using your mod for my next stream and have figured out more or less how it works. I have a question. I have several modded in classes that I'm fond of (the samurai class in particular!) and I'd like some, or all, of those abilities to be rollable. To make that work, would it be as simple (albeit arduous) as typing in the ability name in your mod like the other abilities? Or will I have to add the ability and its effects somewhere into your mod, name it, then call it by name?
MadDog/LT 29. aug. 2016 kl. 4:45
@Logicon - Think it's this line "TreeWidth = 2 ; number of perks available per rank" inside "...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\665132402\Config\XComGrimyTrainingRoulette.ini"
Change it to "TreeWidth = 3 ; number of perks available per rank"
Logicon 25. aug. 2016 kl. 19:27
I think the LW perks are working, but you can only choose from 2 instead of 3 perks. Is there a setting somewhere I can change this?
ZetaZephyr 9. aug. 2016 kl. 19:56
Grimy, are the LW perks working in this mod?
appeetle 7. aug. 2016 kl. 11:44
Needs an update to not affect mecs from second fireaxis DLC
Zinkr7x 2. aug. 2016 kl. 13:23
So like, I installed it but how do I actually get it to work?
GrimyBunyip  [ophavsmand] 24. juli 2016 kl. 21:39
@SeaTurtle
not with ini edits, but yes with UC code.
Abracadabralicious 24. juli 2016 kl. 18:00
Is there a way to edit the ini files so that perks could be attached to two weapons in differnet ways? Like a perk requiring either a rifle or a shotgun, the alternative being a perk that can only be rolled if the class can use a rifle and a gremlin.
Emaharekay 21. juli 2016 kl. 20:58
is this incompatible with LW Perk Pack Mod?
Coyote 20. juli 2016 kl. 2:06
Skimmed through comments and didnt see anything about this but anyway...
Are you going to perhaps make some mec abilities and have randomized trees for them as well?
Mecs are kinda bland at the moment.
complexevil 13. juli 2016 kl. 23:00
Oh yea gonna have a blast with this mod on my third playthrough.
GrimyBunyip  [ophavsmand] 13. juli 2016 kl. 7:04
@Phantom
yeah you could get a colonel perk at corporal, just like in eu.
Phantom 13. juli 2016 kl. 6:41
Can i get a colonel perk for a corporal perk or is it locked for the ranks? thanks
GrimyBunyip  [ophavsmand] 12. juli 2016 kl. 15:34
@hambil
yeah, had that idea too. It'd take some while to implement so I haven't tackled that yet.
Kinda not high on my to do list since I'm not a huge fan of the LW Perk Pack.
hambil 12. juli 2016 kl. 15:30
I just had a cool (maybe - I'm bias) thought. Would it be possible for training roulette to randomize the middle column of LW Perk Pack classes - but not the other two columns? This could also automatically fill in a center column for classes that don't have one, e.g. SPARKS.
ginyu549 11. juli 2016 kl. 16:00
Thanks Fuzzywuzzy, that's simple enough! And thanks GrimyBunyip for making all your cool mods!
Baanth 11. juli 2016 kl. 15:49
@Ginyu549 It's under steamapps/workshop just search folder for "training" and you will see it pop up. First few lines it says "Perks per line = 2 switch that to = 3 "
Baanth 11. juli 2016 kl. 15:48
Thank you Yamino for stating that I was looking in the wrong area. I actually was looking in the wrong place. I apologize to you Grimy. I am new to using Steam for modding my games I had no idea your configs would be under steam Workshop. I did find the file I needed to edit once I realized they wouldn't all be under the XComGame folders and are in their own category. I sincerely apologize for drawing that out. I was in the wrong and just did not use the right guides and thought I knew where the modded content would be even though I never used Steam for modding before. For that I apologize, and wish you well. Keep making awesome mods, I do appreciate all you do for XCOM mods I just took your words out of context and never meant to sound like I was demanding you fix my issues. Just wanted this mod I love to work with the new ones and didn't understand what I was doing wrong. Cheers.
ginyu549 11. juli 2016 kl. 15:47
Hi Grimy, I didn't mean to start anything here lol, I really do appreciate all the work you've done for free and all, and I looked through the .ini for this mod first before asking. As a non-modder I am not familiar with any of this stuff, so just a little hint would be nice :P I actually have 37 .ini files in my folder since I am trying out a lot of mods, and yeah, it's totally not clear anywhere in the .ini for the mod itself if there is an option or anything. I'm asking nicely..please?
Matikanefukukitaru 11. juli 2016 kl. 15:21
@Fuzzywuzzy: Wait, what kind of guides did you check? At least to me it seems as if not one of them was on how to edit the mods through .ini-Edits, as that usually is in the mod's corresponding Config-Folder... (if the mod in question offers that option) ...and none of the .inis you named is in there. It's usually "XComEngine", "XComGame", "XComGameData" and "XComEditor". Some have additional .inis, like this one has. You clearly looked in the completely wrong place...I think you had a guide for making mods that edit the base-game's .inis in any way... (not made any myself, so the last part is but a guess)
Matikanefukukitaru 11. juli 2016 kl. 15:07
Wow, how entitled some people can be...
@Fuzzywuzzy, you clearly are a liar that hasn't even tried looking at the .inis in the config-folder of this mod. Grimy did an awesome job of putting very clear comments on what does what in the corresponding .ini of this particular mod which makes it VERY clear to anyone what to change for getting 3 trees...hell, actually everything in there is explained pretty clearly through comments. Also, you DO realize Grimy made and offers mods like this one free of charge? So he naturally doesn't owe you anything... (same for all other modders where this is applicable in any game)

@GrimyBunyip: Keep up the awesome work, and don't let yourself be irritated by people like that... :vanilla:
GrimyBunyip  [ophavsmand] 11. juli 2016 kl. 14:48
@Fuzzywuzzy
You're incredibly entitled if you think I owe you customer service.
GrimyBunyip  [ophavsmand] 11. juli 2016 kl. 14:14
I have over 40 mods, and I get this question every time. There are guides on ini editing, I've even personally written a very in depth one recently.

It would cost me hours of my life if I had to explain it every time someone asked.

I already invested so much time making this content for the community, if you can't handle the basics then as far as I'm concerned you don't deserve the content.
