gillmesh 17. dec. 2016 kl. 9:49
Anyone noticed that the model for this mod is invisable since the new textures?
Deapri 28. sep. 2016 kl. 14:13
If you've time to continue this, as I have been revising some of the antiquated items in the list, a vent face would be helpful also toward the end of relying less on other mods. just a single flat grate that passes air for covering vents to make it look more natural. You can see the application in the revised Embassy. I think something along those lines would fit well with a catwalk pack... if you need any assistance with any of this feel free to contact me via steam.

Love your mods. Any chance of small ship grid compatibility?
KyTyJI 21. maj 2016 kl. 22:47
small ship ready?
Oiadine 20. apr. 2016 kl. 16:07
@tristavus Will you ever add a Door catwalk?
V4p0r 18. apr. 2016 kl. 8:52
@Tristavius Love your mods man, I am using several especially the Diamond bonded glass. If you have the time and are still working on this mod I would love to see this catwalk that would bind to the bottom of the block you were placing it in instead of just the top. I have looked all over for catwalks that are set up like that and I like the looks of yours the best but had to use Catwalks V3.0 for my needs. I don't like the grey/rusty texture and you cannot modify the color though. In smaller spaces I prefer to have my catwalks bind to the bottom of my block though so that I can run small catwalks above for a better view, not necessarily to place objects on. Keep up the god work, thanks.
andbruu 18. apr. 2016 kl. 6:03
@Tristavius
Nice to hear looking forward to it then. Took a break myself for some other games, but is slowly getting back to SE.
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 16. apr. 2016 kl. 21:44
@andbruu: Been on a bit of a break during the feature freeze/bug stomp phase of the cycle the last month or two; I do still intend to add more to this mod.

@Glint: Good suggestions, thanks... Catwalks tend to come in two types, top orientated like this where you can add parts above and bottom orientated where they are a self contained piece like Keens - I'm hoping to provide both in the long run.
Pretty Little Psycho 9. apr. 2016 kl. 7:33
As a suggestion for when you get time to work on this: the catwalk itself is suspended in air when built which is fine, but could we also have a catwalk block that mounts on the bottom too ie. not suspended)? Would help with asetics to stop them looking weak with few supports, and we could connect blocks underneath them in construction
andbruu 14. mar. 2016 kl. 5:08
@Tristavius
Are you still planning to bring new blocks to this mod, or have you shifted your focus elsewhere?
andbruu 13. jan. 2016 kl. 21:02
Good plans, looking forward to see and use it. Hope you havent discarded offset stairs. Shifting from in, to on cats is a fun challenge, and have me rethinking some of my "standard" designs.
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 13. jan. 2016 kl. 20:53
The conveyors suspended below I'd already considered and the fact others have mentioned it is interesting. I think that definitely something I'll try and do. Current objectives for as soon as I actually get a free day (a few bugs with other mods have crept in during previous patches and have taken up my recent time): Re-analyze costs. Add straight section with conveyor, add Cross section and another with conveyor, add corner section and another with conveyor. Add rail variant with light above. Add rail variant with button panel included.
KitsuneKas 13. jan. 2016 kl. 17:22
I know this probably isn't something that was on your to-do list, but do you think you might be able to produce a mergeless catwalk for our fancy docking rings? Possibly both an in- and on-block style, with some simple indicator on the side missing a mount point?
andbruu 10. jan. 2016 kl. 7:38
@Tristavius
The "volume cost" is hitting me hard currently. With vanilla, I often ran cats on ducts, but with your cats' its not possible. Would you consider a cat base with a conveyor tube (uni-directionel support bars), and perhaps a five-way conveyor with cat-top?
broken 8. jan. 2016 kl. 17:49
Took a blueprint of the pirate comman on easy earth took in space cut it up and merge blocked it into a 72 x 79 block flat base on pillars, replaced the stairs in the Observation tower with yours and that thing is looking sweet! Really makes it POP! Th'x so so much!)
andbruu 7. jan. 2016 kl. 0:22
Great to hear. Looking forward.
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 7. jan. 2016 kl. 0:14
I will add corner rails to the list as well :) And eventually corner piece catwalks to account for the support bars underneath (as well as cross sections).
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 7. jan. 2016 kl. 0:13
I will hopefully be updating this weekend to at the very minimum fix the mass/components to a more reasonable level. Still loads I want to add to this, though some of that may need to wait. Bottom-aligned parts (like the stock catwalks) are something I would like to do, although it restricts them to being extremely thin in order to be able to walk onto them from a normal block. For the most part, building outside the bounds is a slippery slope which may cause big problems in the future. @andbruu however has given me an excellent sideways idea - there's nothing to stop me providing rail parts with an overhead light in the same square as this is a problem I often too face!
andbruu 5. jan. 2016 kl. 5:46
@Tristavius Using it even more (as I hope the cost/mass will be reduced), I have found that the "cost" of this filling two blocks (with railing+catwalk) is quite high, and having the catwalk as "on" means that you will need those two blocks.
Would it be possible to have the "on" block, but with build-in railings extending outside its bounding box (4 different blocks for different railing configs), but still allowing for other blocks being placed above it?
This would allow for placing lights right above the catwalk, using some panneling, or some other block for a more compact design.
All this would help to mitigate the "volume" cost of the current catwalk design.
NB: Also, a vanilla pillar supported catwalk block would be great.
RodGer 5. jan. 2016 kl. 4:15
Плохо! Платформа ровная только на высоте ставится, нужны ещё платформы которые на блоки ставятся, на пример уже с ограждениями и без них.
broken 2. jan. 2016 kl. 20:29
I really dig how this looks and have yet to try it just got it now and hoping it shows up in game. getting stuff ready for a server and this would make the stuff i'm buildin really pop!
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 29. dec. 2015 kl. 23:37
They are currently what I think you're calling an 'on'. The catwalk is aligned to the top of one block which you then walk on. The rails are the block above, the one you are walking 'in'. I'm considering having both options in the future.
jb_aero 29. dec. 2015 kl. 23:21
Are these of the in-block or on-block variety? That is, are you walking on top of a block or inside of one?
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 29. dec. 2015 kl. 3:49
Excellent feedback thank you. I do indeed intend to continue development of this mod - very much so though for the next week or two the aim will be to get through my ship backlog before back to some modding :)
andbruu 29. dec. 2015 kl. 3:05
@Tristavius After using your catwalks some more, I am finding myself missing a few pieces. If you ever get the time and motivation, I would like a diagonal railing piece, but more importantly a catwalk Straight (To) with a vanilla style pillar included, so that it have an additional mount-point at the bottom.
Regarding weight, I suggest you keep it within 100-150% of vanilla.
Regarding mirroring of offset stairs, I am currently using the Light Armor Slab 1x1 Corner from the Armor Slabs Extension mod. They mirror just fine, so maybe you can look at those if your having trouble. I would just like to use a block that looked more like a stair.
Shadow.Agent 28. dec. 2015 kl. 17:37
Hey i love the way these look man, good job and keep it up.

Much better than vanilla guards.
Would agree that the weight is a slight issue.
Never the less thanks.
Eastman51 28. dec. 2015 kl. 15:42
I'm glad that you have gotten into block modding, I think your blocks will improve your own, incredible, designs and help me build more stunning ships. I still prefer your diamond bonded glass above the vanilla glass.
Tristavius  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2015 kl. 22:44
Thanks guys :)

@andbruu: Nope, everything in this release is very, very much in need of balancing and tidying; I just had to get it released as it had been holding up so much of my ship releases. While these are thicker and larger than the stock parts, three times is a bit much, I'll look into reducing. Interesting idea about the offset stairs - could be a nightmare with the mirroring. I'll look into it though :)
Rhedd 27. dec. 2015 kl. 14:36
These look quite nice! I use a lot of catwalks and stairs when building, so the more the merrier, thanks!
andbruu 27. dec. 2015 kl. 8:06
Just used it for a little, and noticed that the catwalks are more than three times the weight of vanilla catwalks. Is this intended, or are you still working on balance?
andbruu 27. dec. 2015 kl. 6:18
I tend to ask this of most catwalk/stair packs, but no luck so far. A stair for large ships, that is 1.25m (half-a-block) wide, aligned to one side. This allows for more compact staircases than those that can be made with other 1x1x1 stair blocks. The disadvantages is that engineers cannot pass each other.
Biggingerman 26. dec. 2015 kl. 22:37
awesome keep up the good work:steamhappy:
