I believe the gloss was just a early bug. Some of the track textures had the wrong Specular map on them and caused this "wet look". It should be gone now. ;)
To be honest I didn't try it at first because of how glossy it was looking in the screen shots.. then I started to wonder (how is it even Glossy o.O?) So I tested it out didn't see any gloss but I fell in love with it :D [yes I realize now that was a really lame reason for not trying out the track initially -_-]
