pls update, it crashes the game
Professor Hardknocks 13/mai./2020 às 7:58
I wish this could be updated.

I do believe "api.buffpanel.com" is the telemetry link that needs blocking. I found it in my Linux gateway router logs after launching cities skylines.

RIP Telemetry Control, you will be sorely missed...

Mod is dead guys, Knight hasn't logged in for over 3 months, it'll have to be revived by someone.
Nevermore2790 26/mai./2018 às 17:41
Any plans on fixing this for Park Life?
RoomMic 24/mai./2018 às 9:35
listed as not working in 'Update 1.10 Broken/Not Working Mods' discussion, anyone have info?
en3he 20/fev./2018 às 6:01
very good thank you
jhughes 11/fev./2018 às 4:48
I have to say that using this mod with everything disabled and the 'Less Steam' mod together has made working with Assets and Styles in Content Manger at least bearable now.
UguuDoki 11/dez./2017 às 19:03
@ChromeNine
Since you're into blocking telemetry, why not regard it as firewall and so start with a block-all. Afterwards, in the event you need certain communication then open the corresponding portal.
ChromeNine 11/dez./2017 às 1:41
Are all items on that list okay to be disabled all at once, or do you not recommend disabling a particular item?
UguuDoki 27/out./2017 às 6:15
one benefit of letting this mod stop the telemetry is saving the output log from being spammed endlessly with hundreds of thousands of the cannot complete end read http error, possibly helping out fps a bit.
Uber-n00bie 2/set./2017 às 10:55
@Croissant Np, hope it helps!

@knighthawkGP Honestly I haven't used this or played Cities at all in a long time now. But when I was frequently playing roughly a year ago, yeah I noticed a big difference. I knew the problem was the fact that Cities dials back to Paradox about literally every single mod in-use upon loading the game. I also have slow internet and a ton of mods. So without your mod/tool, I had so many other mods the game was barely loading at all.

Still think it's horrible how they force such measures on the player with no way to disable it internally (essentially breaking their own game just to get a bit of data from you), but at least your mod was a godsend for me. :)
Croissant 30/ago./2017 às 20:58
@Uber-n00bie Thanks for the help. I will try it!
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 30/ago./2017 às 17:38
Thanks for helping out @Uber-Noobie. Curious do you really see noteable faster load times with this activated? I'm surprised to hear there is a noticable difference there, but I guess there can be if there are delays caused waiting on the reporting\uploading to pdx to complete, where when this is enables it stops that from happening. BTW updates for this (the newer telemetry system) have not been forgotten about, just delayed. Legit timeframe is probably early october when I should have much more free time on my hands.
Uber-n00bie 26/ago./2017 às 22:20
@Croissant The primary reason for this is to making loading the game with other mods MUCH faster. In my case, this mod has helped with that tremendously.

And if you're not comfortable with all the information going out there every time you play, that's a perfectly fair reason as well.
Croissant 24/ago./2017 às 17:30
Is there any reason to do this except being paranoid?
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 29/jun./2017 às 5:37
@Lordprimate - I don't have an update for you on that, been districted of late with other unrelated things. It's stil on the todo list, understand my time for this game and mods tends to come in waves...sometimes I have a few weeks I can fuss around with it all and then not have time for month or two. ;)
@Battery Flaccid - Glad you like it.
β‘αττεrγ ϝlαͼͽ¡d [π] 17/jun./2017 às 16:32
This is awesome. I don't even own this game & after coming across this I may buy it on a sale. Thanks man! :D::ss13ok:
Lordprimate 7/jun./2017 às 10:46
hi there @knighthawkGP, any progress on that update... Looking foreward to it!!
FartInABottle 23/mai./2017 às 20:05
Thank you for making, and updating, this mod.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 18/mai./2017 às 11:08
updated for 1.7, though please see new note at top of description - There is a massive new telemetry system in place.... down to recording buildings you place..etc.. I don't block it yet, but I will in an update sometime soon to block the new spying.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 29/nov./2016 às 10:06
Update for 1.6.0-f4 Disasters and related patch pushed out - no real changes just compatiblity tweaks for new C/O changes.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 28/nov./2016 às 22:53
FYI - The Disaters update and patch is due in the next 24. The mod does need an update and has been updated, and I'll be pushing out the update a few hours after the patch launchs.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 20/fev./2016 às 0:32
@BeckysFootSave - I understand, the anwser is nope.
☆Heike'sFootSlave™☆ 20/fev./2016 às 0:06
@knighthawkGP: I subscribed this mod for a day, didn't used it, but still have it in my modslist!
I didn't used it bc (like TotalyMoo said) I WANT (or don't have a problem) that the Devs are collecting Infos to help them (and in the End, us all)!

If I don't use this mod the Devs get "normal" Infos, right?
My Question: Can I give them more Infos or Help to figure out "things" if I use this mod and use the "Enable" Buttons!

Hope you know what I mean bc sometimes can't find the right english words!?!
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 18/fev./2016 às 7:36
No changes are needed with regard for snowfall update.
(though I'll publish in the source respository a patched dll later today for those that go that route)
CULT mixfriesjohn 21/dez./2015 às 5:43
Nothing to my knowledge, just wanted to give official dev word on why we're gathering some data :)
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 11/dez./2015 às 7:31
Only they aren't sent together only on crashes or errors, but every app start regardless. What's the harm in adding an off switch Moo?
CULT mixfriesjohn 10/dez./2015 às 1:45
Thanks for understanding Vexcarius, that's a very good example. System info is sent together with crash logs so that we can see if a bug/issue/crash is tied to hardware, drivers, OS versions or whatever. It makes the process a lot faster and easier for the end user and allows us to squash bugs fast and efficiently :)
Meteor Daddy 9/dez./2015 às 22:03
Somehow read this in the EULA... Unless you're sending your personal information to them, it's not that bad. They won't be able to fix our bugs if we didn't send game infos :/
CULT mixfriesjohn 7/dez./2015 às 6:19
To clarify: you accept the collection of this data when you install the game (EULA).

This is all used in order to improve the game. Honestly I don't see why or how this could be handled maliciously. Telemetry is extremely important for us developers to understand how our players interact with things and what can be done better / increased / added / solved.

:)
chaosmercenary 4/dez./2015 às 16:57
I'm going to try this mod, maybe this is why there's constant lag when I open the game, load a game, and even quit the game (I had like 2000+ workshop items and if any info about that is being sent, it could take a while...each, time, I do anything....
LieutenantDan 24/nov./2015 às 0:53
Mad respect for making this mod. More than aything thak you for iformig me this was even going on I had no idea. that's fucked that they do that.
Vinolik 21/nov./2015 às 14:05
Ok thank you for a response. I must say I fully agree to you. However I'm still convinced this information is only being collected in order to help us, not hurt us.

I respect all the people who want to use this and I understand their reasons.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 21/nov./2015 às 13:44
a) I don't want data leaving my system I didn't specifically authorize. b) I surely don't want my unique system information trasmitted to anyone everytime I start an app, it's far more then just generic os and memory etc information. c) I don't want this info tied to my steamid or paradoxid the way it presently is. d) I was never give an option or alerted to that fact such was being transmitted. Maybe most don't care about the profiles that can be built from this information and tied to a specfic individual. PDX know for example that you're kenneth and kenneth plays on 2 different computers, he plaid last night one computer 1 from 8pm till 11pm and then computer 2 from 11pm till 12am, he was playing map x, with mods x for 3 of those ours and then map y for an hour. That's just an example, if that doesn't bother you, then by all means please don't use the mod, it's available for those that do.
Vinolik 21/nov./2015 às 13:02
I mean seriously why would you not want them to know what youre building in the game? I really can't see any problem here
Vinolik 21/nov./2015 às 13:01
Ehh yes. Please explain to me
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 21/nov./2015 às 12:58
Are your serious Kenneth?
Vinolik 21/nov./2015 às 7:53
But why would you not want to send this "info" to PDX? In what way is it related to your privacy?
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 19/nov./2015 às 13:33
@Azurespecter Yes, our privacy. You'll see in the release notes I state I'm sure 'some' of this data no doubt has been helpful and I don't have an issue with it being on by default so long as there was an option to turn it off. Also why are you guys tying each piece collected to specific steam accounts and specific pdx accounts. Bottom line though at least some of us would prefer not to be sending this information to you. I've suggested in the past a -NoTelemetry launch option, it's never materialized.
Azure  [desenvolvedor(a)] 19/nov./2015 às 13:01
@knighthawkGP - I'll make the suggestion, but I'm failing to see how this option is going to help players. I can assure you that this info collected is used to help players, not invade privacy, and this info has been very vital for solving many troubleshooting issues.

Or am I missing something here that is of concern to players?
Uber-n00bie 16/nov./2015 às 15:09
Ah so you did. I'll still be using this until/unless they ever decide on making these options in-game officially -- like they should've from the start. Thanks again.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 16/nov./2015 às 14:56
@uber-n00bie - I anwsered that just below your question. No it will not make any noticable dent in your load times either per-map or on app start, also even if they allowed the startup telem events to be turned off your talking like a few milliseconds. The workshopadpanel (not telemetry related per say) pulls some graphics so maybe in that sense it might shave a second or two on a slow connection.
Uber-n00bie 16/nov./2015 às 14:36
Will using this mod reduce load times? If so, by how much would you estimate? Also if we blocked the two telemetry methods not included with this mod, would that also help reduce load times? I have a slow internet connection as well. So if this is the case, it would make A LOT of sense why this game's load times are complete garbage.

And holy crap... I had no idea there was this much data going out there (without making it more clear to the player) either, especially the data regarding our steam ID and so much computer info. If they can't allow us to toggle these themselves (which is honestly kind of sleezy), you are truly doing a great service in providing the community this mod. Thank you.
knighthawkGP  [autor(a)] 16/nov./2015 às 11:47
More or less no additional benefits beyond privacy. You'll save a few kb of data transfer over a session but that's about it (unless you also disable the workshop feed panel which would save a few more kb. I doubt you'll notice a few millisecond saved by not doing the http posts or handling the replies. Damb shame I can't block the 2 start up events that include all your system hardward and cpu id etc without using a patched the assembly though. CO if your listening how about a simple -noTelemetry launch option to disable those two?
