Gabe newell created Valve = Valve created steam.
Valve group made many games like Half Life. After half life many mods to it was released like:
Half Life: Counter Strike
Half Life: Team Fortress
Then games like Counter Strike 1.6 we all know was made and was developed until today; counter strike global offensive.
Years after Half Life was released, of course the sequel was coming out.
Half Life 2 was released to steam.
A bit after Half Life 2, Garry's mod - A sandbox half life mod was released.
After years of development, Garry's mod was released as an official game.
