That depends. It was OK for Portal 1 to get away with that because the whole game was an experiment and was meant to be taken lightly. Most maps for Portal 2 should have one solution to them because it is more advanced than Portal 1 and you want the player to discover the logic you wanted them to experience.

That's very possible. I'm bad at logic and someone else designed the puzzle. One button doesn't matter that much either lel.

Sacrificing cubes is how I solved it. One button went unused (the portal wall you have to unblock).
