The gameplay design philosophy of the Iron Hearts series was a 'challenging but fair' experience. The lack of saving/loading is a limitation of CoH2's WorldBuilder but also acted as a feature where dying basically cost you the entire run and required a restart. This was the intended design.
Making such a campaign requires coding knowledge. Unfortunately I am no longer making mods for CoH2 and as such I am no longer updated on how to do it now. If there are other modders still active on CoH2 perhaps you may ask them.
I have nothing against the author of these maps, but I would like it to be a little easier because there are still too many enemies in the maps and therefore the maps last 2+ hours in which there is no saving and loading.
Simply reduce the concentration of enemies by 30%.
As for the rest I would like the author to contact me purely informatively to explain a little and give me some tricks on how to make a singleplayer map and whether I need to write any codes to achieve something like this.
And when you lose, you must start from the beginning. I appreciate the effort in the map but I don't really enjoy the difficulty and it's a bit too slow.
We received a tremendous amount of feedback mirroring what you basically described (except the crash report - what kind of error was it? Scar execution error?), and believe me we implemented a lot of it into the next few chapter. You should find the pacing improve and the gameplay involves less cheesing and more on-the-spot decisions in the heat of the moment.
If you are still up for it, give the next chapter a try and let me know what you think of it. Thanks!
The mission played fine right up till I hit the IS2 ace. Took me several hours of cheesing the enemies and utter patience to neutralize the enemy base, patrols, and other assorted units, but through persistence, I managed to get up up to the final position on the map. Throughout it all, I saw nothing to indicate any problems with the map file itself, and it seemed to play just fine.
Please do keep us informed of your progress and your thoughts. It's a pleasure to see your experiences of this campaign. :)
can some good map makers have a mission of US Army Rangers and Danish underground to gather information and then blow the cold processing plant up then try to escape?
Thanks for your feedback!
This map is definitely not for the casual player. The term 'casual player' is not meant to be an attack or a representation of your skills, I think we can both agree that this map is extremely difficult and not for the casual player, or certain players with experience.
What you have said regarding the difficulty of the map has been well stated already if you look through the previous comments. We have learned from this feedback and toned down the difficulty somewhat in the next chapters. Although having said that, the next chapters are still fairly difficult, just not as extreme as this chapter.
I wouldn't say it's impossible to complete as it has been done plenty of times now. The video goes through everything but there's a long optional section which is not entirely necessary to complete the mission.
You can also watch some of the YouTube videos showcased on the Steam Workshop page to see how others made it through the area!
Happy to hear you are enjoying the story. Chapter 2 is definitely the hardest chapter of the Iron Hearts series so subsequent chapters are much easier. :)
I absolutely love but there are areas that i think have need improving.
