Just try out my latest mod, IMURSM. It is a total replacement for gunfire, explosions, cracks, physics sounds and other audio files from the game. Also, the explosions on that one are much more realistic than this mod. Have a good one.

Yea, I had IMURSM on. I unsubbed from the 3 parts to see if its fixed but sadly I still cant hear them :(

They do sound disorted sometimes, Like it has white noise or something. But way better than the original sound.

Technically yes, practically not. It is a totally customised version of the older ones. But... It is not realistic anymore, when compared with my new total revamp mod, CPR Sound System, frightenly hot and ready to come out. Hope you understand, and stay frosty for CPR.

Battlefield 4 has very well and realistic explosion sounds, tho. All the SFX system is very smart and the samples were real recorded, too. If you manage to break open the audio files, I'll find out that every explosion sound is divided in different sample bases, like the initial concussion wave 'bang', the echoes (urban, desert, forest), the "punch" and the "boom". This leads to a very dynamic and modular construction for the sound effects in the game. Of couse, the engine has to be well scheduled and decide the right way to put the right effects based on the ingame environment.Of course, the main objective of the sound design team from BF4 was to make the SFX more action-packed and immersive than realistic and stark. However, they have done a very interesting job. Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 4 have the best sound design on the Battlefield series, on my opinion.

No, I just make this for fun, because I'm good at it. I only use Audacity for mixing the sounds up. Some of the explosion sounds for subsonic shockwave-based explosives I have recorded by myself, using ordinary fireworks and then editing and compiling them to make them realistic and suitable for their particular role ingame. However, It's illegal to get hands and blow up High Explosives, which have supersonic shockwaves. With this in mind, I had to rely on editing the most HQ stuff I found on YouTube, plus the amazingly and frightenly realistic Reality Mod's team field recording sounds. The result is a very legit and realistic work.

This CPR Sound System you talking about sound really exciting. Are you like a sound enginer in real life because I can only find information about this on some company tech site.

At first, I really thought you just got some really awesome explosion and weapon fx library. But seems like you did more than just converting them to Source. I really don't know alot about sound production works, but I have to say your sounds so far got a lot of dynamic depth to it. For instance, people "complain" about how Youtube real life recording sound of guns are too flat and have no bass to it. But then they prefer stuffs that sounds similar or just like Battle Field 4, which just make guns sound like a bass drum without any "concussion" feels to it. Your sounds however, is not too bass-y but it feels very up close and overwhelming.

In CPR Sound System, explosion sounds gonna have much more concussion to them, giving much, much, MUCH more immersion and realism. I tried to work on "realistic physics" to make this sound mod. Now, supersonic explosions (High explosives: M67 frag grenade, for example) have much more concussion, much more bass and at longer distances they sound "WHOOSH", just like in real life. Although, explosives with subsonic shockwaves (M84 stun grenade, for example) sound more sharp and the echo dissipates more easily through the environment, juuuust like in real life. Hey PinkTaco, I simply removed the shrapnel sounds because they were not realistic. I was limited by Source Engine's capabilities, and was forced to make 3 samples for each explosion distance. This resulted in a lack of shrapnel sound's randomness. It was annoying to hear the same shrapnel sound pattern going off at every grenade blowing off near you. In this mod, I simply took them off and let the explosions be clear, loud and high quality. The explosions are realistic, similar and not annoying now.

Loving it, the removable of ringing noises is an awesome forgiving addon. But one thing I notice is the deflected shrapnel noise at close proximity is gone now. In pack 2, when a grenade go off close to you, you get the "ringing" and a sharp sound of deflected shrapnel flying past you.

I think it's a very nice touch to the mod that set it aside from all the other one (as if it hasn't already).

For some strange reason throwable items (like both insurgent and security grenades, molotov, etc) are not exploding since I susbcribed this mod...when I throw them against some wall or something they just dissappear and nothing happens...welI they sometimes explode but very rarely. I Also subscribed to your other mod (Realistic Supersonic Bullet Cracks) and I previously had this sound mod http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=268125976 and http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=268128048 Do you know what can cause this problem? some incompatibility issues between mods? thanks in advance

It's not recomended to first delete the mod from the workshop folder. First you have to unsubscribe from it in the Workshop. Try to first unsubscribe all mods made by me, delete them from the workshop and then subscribe again. I'm sure it will fix it. Thanks, I hope it works for you properly!

And yes, I do have other sound mods installed, but none that modify the explosion sounds other than yours. Even if I did, the latest workshop mod subscribed to takes precedence as it is loaded in later than anything subscribed to before.

I'm pretty sure I made sure to fully uninstall the old mod, first (so manually deleted the workshop file). The soundcache is reset with snd_restart, which I have bound to F8 and always hit when first connecting to a server. I'll make sure and try it again, tonight, though, and see if perhaps something screwy was going on.

Hey Shinobi, there is something wrong there. Check out if there isn't any other mod subscribed to your game. First of all, I didn't take samples and amplified them. I've made them, and they all have 44100HZ, with bass and 16bit rate (largest rate Source supports). It's my highest quality explosions mod, with real recorded echoes and base explosions. Check your game's cache and mod subcriptions. Thanks for the feedback.

I reverted back to your first explosion sound mod. This one is way too high on the high frequencies, lacks punch / bass, and sounds like you took low volume high fidelity samples, then amplified them way, way too much, resulting in sounds that sound overdriven and distorted, especially when the game also throws an audio filter in the mix such as being suppressed or having something nearby blow up.

Including chemical factors, the explosion is supersonic or not because of the casings too. The pressure created inside a steel casing high explosive totally changes it's sound breakout. It's all matter of Physics + Chemistry. Great advise, Gryphon. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Just throwing it out there, the wrapping on C4 and HE's in general isn't what makes them have a bigger "boom", this IS the case with Low Explosives that deflagrate, however detonation is an entirely different animal. The molecular structure, oxygen balance and density is what determines detonation velocity. Casings are only used to either 1) create shrapnel or 2) for pressing powdered explosives into to increase density and in turn, velocity - Hence detonators and primers being in metal tubes and cups.

Just figured out why things are clipping and sounding far louder than they should. Was entirely my fault lol, forgot I have a software equalizer running on my system with bass cranked up just a tad too high.

Hey swei, I've amplified them 'cause the game didn't have the same punch to the samples as I was expecting (In Audacity they sound much more bang and boom). This didn't change the audio quality, just the punch.

Thanks for the feedback, Yasen! No, this mod's grenade explosion sounds don't sound naval gunfire, and don't even sound like it. I caught real recorded sounds of various types of explosives, such as 100lb fireworks, including live real grenades and customised them in Audacity, with mixes and a lot of work, to give more immersion to them.
