Those links for the example are dead. You get a Steam Website error.

Yes, I'm affraid they might conflict with one of my other mods but it's hard to confirm which one. I already disabled a lot of them to narrow it down, but haven't been able to solve it yet. For now, I'll just use mod tools to change the UI priority. :)

Do my other mods (excluding thumbnail copier) fail for you?
Snow_Cat  [autor] 4 out. 2015 às 11:59
There shouldn't be, but I've not tested/used this for some time. Give me a few hours to retest my Asset Editor mods collection .

Thank you for this mod, I'd really like to use this! Unfortunately I've enabled it in the content manager but the editor is unchanged, do I need to do anything in particular to activate this?

if this one also works, it feels as if you have read my mind. your asset-changer-mods were so desperetely needed by me!!!!!

I just used a method of borrowing an icon from another tab. For example on the recent shipping container stuff I released. I classified them as a large road I believe and publictrainstationbuidling.. whatever the correct name is. So that it would show up in the publictransport section and made a new tab using the large roads icon.

Sortof;
UICategories are collected from loaded assets, but the (default automatically generated) tab/button sprites/icons are are all loaded from the same predefined texture atlas following the naming convention ("SubBar" + UICategory + {"","Focused","Hovered","Pressed","Disabled"}).

In theory it should be possible to use any arbitairy name for a UICategory-- If there is not some form of error checking (or unhandled exception path) that would prohibit this.

But to get a proper custom icon on the new category's tab you would need to find some way to get the game to load your sprite set into the default's texture atlas, or cause it to load different specified sprites for your custom tab; all while resolving collisions when users download seperately packaged assets of your design laign on the same tab/sub grouping.

Btw guys, since you seem to know much about these things...is there a way to create a new tab within a primary UI category? So that I could have, p.e., Primary UI Category=Beautification item and then make a new tab called "Asian Park Items"
(btw by accident I found out that I could pseudo-create new tabs within primary UI categories if I picked, for example, item class=beautification item and UI category=PublicTransportTrain, but I'm specifically asking about real new tabs within the primary UI categories)

I personally enjoy having them in order numbers so that they don't move around and I know where to look for what I want every time. So it's next to X asset always. I'm personally not too worried if someone uses the same number as mine an ends up destroying my order. If it happens, it happens.
Snow_Cat  [autor] 24 jun. 2015 às 12:47
Your preference;
Personally I think that having them grouped together makes the most sense, provided they all can fit in the toolstrip in the same time, otherwise it would make sense to split them into smaller sets so that users can find them more easily.

Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure that the game wouldn't be trying to display all of the assets in one place (in the sense that it tries to display all the assets within the same 109x100 spot).
'cause, if by some slim chance, someone would pick a number that's inbetween my assets, that'd be weird, so I'm thinking about giving them all the same number to make sure no other asset will slip inbetween.
What do you think? Is it better to have my assets take a random spot amongst each other, or rather risk another item slipping inbetween?
Leo Mystic Magic 24 jun. 2015 às 8:47
Yea that's what I meant. Thanks for clearing that up further. :)
Snow_Cat  [autor] 24 jun. 2015 às 8:44
sortof.
The game will load assets in a random-nondeterministic order, but then sort them by their UIPriority; so multiple items with the same priority will still be lumped together by the sort, but inside that lump the items will be in a random order.
Leo Mystic Magic 24 jun. 2015 às 8:22
LegionOfMe, If you set the number to the same for every asset you put out that will lead to assets jumping around on the toolbar every time you load the game. The game will not know where it should put each asset because they are all the same number so it will randomly place the assets every time.
Snow_Cat  [autor] 24 jun. 2015 às 7:48
Should be okay. It' just used for sorting.
LegionOfMe 24 jun. 2015 às 2:31
hmmm...I was wondering...with my latest assets, I set the priority to x+1 for each asset. Would it be possible to assign the exact same number to them, or would that lead to problems?
LegionOfMe 22 jun. 2015 às 16:37
Thanks Shroomblaze, that's what I gathered from the link Snowcat posted, but thanks for confirming :) Oh, and thanks for requesting this mod, I had already been wondering (actually, just around 2 hours ago) if it was possible to sort the assets, that's why I'll happily use this mod tomorrow
Leo Mystic Magic 22 jun. 2015 às 16:19
LegionOfMe, I requested this mod because it allows you to order your assets in the toolbar. Basically enter a number in sequence for you mods and how you would like them to display so they don't move around on the toolbar and will always be in the same exact spot.

so for example you could start at a large number so you know that no one will screw up your order... you could so something like 12,000. then 12,001 and so on. I wanted this mod so when I upload certain stuff I like to keep similar types of things together.. Just recently I did the parking lots and the road girders.
LegionOfMe 22 jun. 2015 às 16:15
Ah! Very interesting! Man, your mods are really, really useful, gonna use this one right tomorrow!
Snow_Cat  [autor] 22 jun. 2015 às 15:32
I could, if had more practice in its usage.
I've linked Shroomblaze's tutorial in the description for a better explaination instead.
LegionOfMe 22 jun. 2015 às 0:34
could you elaborate what the asset priority does?

Meow. :3

YAY! Thank you :)
