Cab you please do the same, but without a road (while still make it glue to the road)?

Put some RGB lights for the night :3

it should be noted that this is not a solar power object . it is a wind powered object named as solar but it draws its power from the wind not the sun like the vanilla solar assets either way still looks cool

For those of you wondering why it's not real, it's because it can only be built pointing north-south or else the side panels won't get much light, plus without any way for the panels to move and adjust with the sun's orientation, the only one that will be remotely efficient will be the very top center one.
It's really just a better idea to slap solar panels pointing straight up on top of every building, the panels will be a lot more efficient.

I wonder why this hasn't been tried in real life?

Oh, neato! This is such a simple idea I wonder if it has practical real world application? Someone should look into this...

@Thadian: That assumes that advanced reactor technology continues to be overlooked in favor of the conventional light water reactors that are currently favored due to their low cost and the ability to use them to make weapons-grade materials. I'd suggest you look up breeder reactors, especially the Integral Fast Reactor. A reactor capable of recycling its own fuel could run for tens of thousands of years with minimal waste output, and since it runs above critical heat levels already the risk of a meltdown is mitigated. It just doesn't put money into the pockets of politicians.

That said, you're right about solar being the future... but only if people are willing to foot the bill for space-based collectors and phased microwave beam technology. Ground-based systems take WAY too much space, which is already at a premium for both human use and nature conservation. Solar roads mitigate some of this but you still run into the issue of dark-hours.

Anyone thought about adding Solar Road Ways? We got them starting to be placed in the real world already. Why not in the game also?

I would like multiple road options for this piece too. I like it. Humanity has no hope under fossil fuels including nuclear - current earth consumption of plutonium and uranium can sustain for about 200 years, and that consumption is increasing. Thorium is a good nuclear alternative but comes with all the other pitfalls of nuclear, and also is not going to sustain humanity.

The only hope for humanity is embracing a full solar-only economy. Solar cars, solar panels on every building, solar windmills, solar everything. We need to advance solar to 80% of our electrical consumption. If we can do that, then we can develop uranium/thorium options for nuclear energy - and we "might" have long term hope.

Unrealistic? Today maybe... I think almost everything will be solar energy in the future. I don't know why modders don't do unlockeable stuff to build a futuristic city.
PerfectKid 24. maj 2015 kl. 1:33
could you do this for a single road, n maybe make a slightly higher power out put please I love it just hardly use this road type
Lowkey Loki 3. maj 2015 kl. 14:02
reminds me of freemont st in las vegas
Nitrous 3. maj 2015 kl. 12:53
REMEMBER WHEN SOLAR PANELS SHOWED UP ON HOUSES GUYS?? Probably not.. but still, a lot of people hated them for the way they look because it was un-natural. I use these everywhere and I must say they make a real statement when seeing them at street level as you enter an office complex for example. Once you learn how to place them straight, you'll love them! MORE PLEASE!
Thunderous Clockwork WarMachine 24. apr. 2015 kl. 8:52
Actually not unrealistic in principle. Look up "Solar Serpents".
The only think you'd have to change is to make the solar covering semi-transparent and have it made up out of loads of "scales".

You should look up "Solar Roadways" and add those to the game too, if that's possible.

Good job! Interestingly, in Warsaw this kind of construction is used as a acoustical barriers :)

Until you make a ploppable version, I'm sorry I can't use it.
nextopia 20. apr. 2015 kl. 15:57
a version for rails would be nice
Father Christmas 20. apr. 2015 kl. 12:43
looks cool. would go well in a futursitic city
gravage 19. apr. 2015 kl. 20:04
Interesting idea here, great job. Unrealistic? ... actually there is an R&D project that I've heard of wherein they intend to enable roads to do just this. They reason since roads are so ubiquitous it offers quite an opportunity to utilize them as a platform to harvest solar energy.
IrrerSani 19. apr. 2015 kl. 12:45
spectacular! thank you so much. I will make an abo. would be glad if you got a freeway doing so. (Germany / google translator)
GayBenny 19. apr. 2015 kl. 0:30
Can you make a one way version? =)
Cthullhu  [ophavsmand] 18. apr. 2015 kl. 16:19
Checkout my new one http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=427921102 can chain those anywhere over anything, even highways!:)
tjvelcro 18. apr. 2015 kl. 11:51
Pretty cool idea, can you chain these together to get a longer tunnel? Maybe make a version for smaller roads!
LegionOfMe 18. apr. 2015 kl. 4:47
Well, I'd certainly want one. :) I currently don't use the 6 lane roads too much anymore...
Cthullhu  [ophavsmand] 18. apr. 2015 kl. 3:43
If people want a small one sure :)
LegionOfMe 18. apr. 2015 kl. 2:19
nice idea, will you make a version for the small roads too?
Gr8one 17. apr. 2015 kl. 20:24
very cool idea!
