This is working. It will not change the AI of Props however. If you want to turn a prop into a building, you'll have to Dump the mesh, then create a new building with the Prob Mesh. This can be usefull if you have a highly detailed prop you wish to not behave like prop.

If I used this on the Mass Transit passenger station would that turn it into a cargo station? I assume I'd have to change the paths to spawn trucks instead of people. It would be awesome to have a 6-line cargo hub. Even better would be a railyard that did direct rail-rail transfers instead of rail-truck. Something like that is desperately needed to allow more efficient transfers between imports/exports and internal cargo networks.

i wanted to use an in game residential building & change its function to a sauna, but as saved asset it still says Residential & is not available to be placed in game as a sauna

I would also recommend NOT subscribing to Snow_cat's Asset Prefab(+Building) AI Changer at the same time as this, that's what was giving me problems with the dropdown menu occasionally breaking.

Thank you so much for the update! It makes modding so much easier!

Mind if I ask whenever there is a chance that you can get the netAI changer part working? From the code it appear as if it suppose to be able to change net AI-s as well, but if I open the road asset editor, the AI changing panel does no appear. And if I open the new park or building editor to create the net I want by changing the AI there the game throws and endless nullreference exception

Holy crap, thanks so much for updating this. I'd been using it to convert workshop unique buildings into Industries warehouses and had to use scene explorer to hunt down the parts that this program missed. Nice!

Argh, was really hoping to convert some library assets to the new LibraryAI but this most crucial mod stopped working with Campus update. And yes, I've tried unsubscribing/resubscribing numerous timers, as well as turning the mods off and on, restarting the game, etc. The prefab dropdown doesn't show up in Asset Editor.

Hoping it gets fixed!

With the Campus DLC patch, the change AI option is gone from Asset Editor :(

I've subscribed to this mod and enabled it in the content manager then went into the asset editor and there's no option for changing the AI or Item Class anywhere, everything looks exactly the same as before...

It seems like changing the AI for citizens doesn't work. I tried changing a cim's AI from a Tourist AI to a Resident AI, and the cim never spawned ingame.

Do you have a mod that lets me go into Asset Editor when creating or editing a residential highrise (or a low-density house) and say the maximum households in the building are, for example, 160 instead of the original 25?
And will that 160, when the gamesave is shared that the building is in, still be 160 on the computer of someone who subscribes to that gamesave?

@nothanx3 Yup, Snow_Cat's Item class changer goes hand in hand with this, a lot of times you're going to want to adjust the item class to after changing the AI.

If all else fails and there are attributes that you can't adjust with any existing mod, you can always use the mod tools and dig through the attributes directly using the object browser. Some things can be adjusted on the fly using that, and even if that doesn't work, once you've found them you've got an approach for how to write a mod that does what's needed.

Check out the Asset ItemClass Changer mod in Snow_Cat's Workshop as it lets you reassign an asset's Item class and main category and is a must have with this mod. You can change the item class to a high school or a university for example and much more.. And don't forget to rate it up as it is currently underrated and being forgotten literally!

How does it work when I have a train that is AI (cargo) and want to change it to AI (passenger)

Just pushed a change that might help with the issues some people are having - can't verify though because I am unable to reproduce the issue on my end. Also added a new feature that allows copying hidden attributes over to the new AI where possible.

Rebuilt the mod with .NET Framework 3.5, thanks to BloodyPenguin for that tip. I had kind of given up on figuring it out after I couldn't find anything wrong with the mod the last time I looked at it (and I guess there wasn't, not with the code anyways).

@cerebellum Can you please rebuild this mod with .NET 3.5 in settings update it with rebuilt version? At this moment you have .NET 4.5 which is incorrect. No code changes required.

Sorry guys, I was super busy lately with irl things, didn't really get anywhere in the Time I did get to spend on it. I'll definitely have time to spend on it over the weekend though, hopefully I'll figure it out then.
