Hi guys, sorry things havent been updated in a while. Went through a system update and lost all my modding tools. I don't think I'll be able to get them reinstalled for a while so I'll put this mod into the public domain. If anyone wants to update this mod with DX11, add, or change it feel free. Send me a copy and I can update this mod with the new files.

cool concept
Sinner_D 5. aug. 2015 kl. 20:58
lol...I do wish for a more economical structure, trading in SE no matter youre cargo seems risky. make a electronic banking system with ability to transfer funds seems more the way to go to minimize threat of death for theft.

@Gunneybunney I had a server up for a while but didn't have any players on it. With other life things going on I decided to take it down.
THE BOSS 11. juni 2015 kl. 19:11
AWSOME MOD
8. juni 2015 kl. 8:04
arr is your server up and running and if so what is it called
Wulf_Jarlson 28. maj 2015 kl. 11:55
Love this mod.
We use this mod in our dedicated server.
We wish to control the printing of money but wish to be able to print it in survival.
I wonder if you could add a 'Mint block'.
Just a renamed assembler or any other block you wish to use. Naming it 'Mint' would allow us to control what ship grid can mount it with SESE.

Thank you for your attention and this excellent mod.
MrKiel 14. maj 2015 kl. 19:53
Ah well - it never hurts to ask!

I may investigate the possibility of running a script to adjust the amount of spacebucks present in inventories directly on the saved sandbox files when the server restarts instead :)
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 13. maj 2015 kl. 16:02
The more I think about it, the more I think it can't be done. The mod is downloaded to each client. In order for you to be able to change the values on your server, you'd have to post a version of this mod as your own and use that mod on your server, then update the mod everytime you want to change values. Not impossible just a little labor intensive. When the server restarts, the players will automatically download the new mod version.
MrKiel 13. maj 2015 kl. 11:43
This does open up interesting possibilities such as increasing the build cost by 10% when the server restarts to simulate generating interest :)
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 13. maj 2015 kl. 10:59
@MrKielm
The construction costs are stored in a modded Components.sbc file. It wouldn't be difficult to change the values on the fly if you have desktop access to the server but I believe that the sbc files are loaded into memory once the server/world starts, so changing the local file would only cause changes when the world is reloaded. Tyrsis, Demolisher50, Screaming Angles or others might be able to create a script to modify the values in-game. Unfortunately that is currently above my skill set.
MrKiel 13. maj 2015 kl. 6:46
@Kip Wilson
I'm curious as to whether or not it's possible to dynamically change the value of space bucks in-game? Is the cost set in stone once the game starts or can it be fiddled on the fly?

I'm asking as it would be more interesting to have a space buck with variable value- whether global (for all players) or per component.

Just a morning thought- I'm like to hear your input!
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 6. maj 2015 kl. 11:57
@ContrastX: Let me know what kind of values youd like. Send me a friend request on steam :)
ContrastX 3. maj 2015 kl. 22:32
@Kip- Love the mod and I use it on my dedicated server Olympus Sector. Is it possible to change the values of the components? I would like to see a "Credits" version of this mod but with some minor changes. I model and have no skill in programming. Thanks again for your work.
Furgler 2. maj 2015 kl. 22:05
I would say your trade station is a good idea and a good step in the right direction. It goes toward what I was saying for having individual minerals being able to be transfered into space bucks.
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 2. maj 2015 kl. 21:44
....

Or I could create an exchanger block that converts whatever you input into it into SpaceBucks but I'm trying to avoid this option because there's already a currency mod that kind of does this.

I could build a script that uses a programming block to convert Ingots to SpaceBucks but I still need to see if the programming code allows generating materials from nothing (I know the mod API for modded blocks and such does it but not sure about programming block scripts).

Lastly I could just make SpaceBucks made from a single ingot type like Uranium or Platinum or something. But those are the only options I see at the moment to do what you described. Let me know what your thoughts are.
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 2. maj 2015 kl. 21:43
@Furgler: Thanks for your comments. Please check out my Trade Station blueprint at http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=422324928 . Its function is to do exactly that, allow you to mine a lot of one material then take it to the trade station and trade for SpaceBucks.

I understand people want to be able to build SpaceBucks out of a single material where ever they might be. I agree, it would be a handy function but I haven't come up with a way to do that. Either Id have to split SpaceBucks up into separate components (like Spacebucks_Iron... built out of Steel Plates, SpaceBucks_Platinum... and so forth). But at that point you might as well just barter ingots.
Furgler 2. maj 2015 kl. 14:49
I would use this if you had different amounts of money for the different amounts of ore, like graham_1234 suggested. This is a good mod but honestly to simplistic for a currency system.

Example: It takes 3,500 iron for 10 space bucks making platnium 100 space bucks. This is using the numbers you are currently using. You will most likely have to fiddle a bit with the numbers to make it right but I believe in you, if you do decide to do the upgraded currency.
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 17. apr. 2015 kl. 16:30
@gl0ryh0und: It was a combination of spawn rarity and refinery processing efficiency (how much ore refines into how many ingots). I didn't include refining time in the equation but I don't think it would change the amounts all that drastically. All the information I pulled from the wiki.

Platinum is the rarest of the ores and also the least efficient to refine, while Iron is the most common besides stone. As a result, there is a great discrepancy in their relative worth.

The values arent set in stone however, if I get a lot of feedback on how they are working or requests to change it, I may.

I'm glad you like it :)
gl0ryh0und 17. apr. 2015 kl. 10:52
Great Mod, good work. I'm wondering where you came up with the different makeup of the different ingot amounts. was it arbitrary or based on % availability in the world?.. it seems strange that 1 platinum is worth 1700 iron ingots
Reverend Revenant 14. apr. 2015 kl. 18:03
Goddamn it someone beat me to it
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 14. apr. 2015 kl. 16:20
http://space-engineers.com/server/17462/ is my server. It is up now if anyone would like to stop by and take a look.
input latency 8. apr. 2015 kl. 12:55
Definately seems like a good idea for larger servers and pretty useful in singleplayer. Keep up the good work.
Redtachi 5. apr. 2015 kl. 20:22
You have made Pizza Da Hutt very happy XD
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 4. apr. 2015 kl. 19:26
graham_1234: Thanks for the idea. I'll think about it and see what I come up with.
Ovan the Wise 4. apr. 2015 kl. 16:37
I was wondering if you had though about creating a vesion of this were all the diffrent types of ore could be there own SpaceBuck that was we could trade like iron for colbalt.
Pecs 4. apr. 2015 kl. 6:28
:D
ChozoSR388 4. apr. 2015 kl. 2:32
A million spacebucks? Hey, that's unfair!
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 4. apr. 2015 kl. 1:06
I'm happy that so many of you have expressed interest in my mod. Thank you for your support! Please let me know what you think of the new look.

Also, please use the comment section to talk about SpaceBucks. Comments referencing other mods directly or indirectly will, henceforth, be removed. I hate to have to do this but just because a mod may look similar, it doesn't mean it is. I appreciate your understanding.
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 3. apr. 2015 kl. 17:13
Gunneybunney: Sadly the server is not up yet. With the recent updates to Oxygen I'm having to redo my starter ships and trade station to take it into account.
3. apr. 2015 kl. 9:52
what is your server called
Pecs 2. apr. 2015 kl. 20:22
Coffee as well
dragazo 2. apr. 2015 kl. 19:00

noksookao 2. apr. 2015 kl. 11:24
YES! I finally get to roleplay as Babyfart McGeezaks! Woohoo!
Archon 2. apr. 2015 kl. 8:43
omfg i got this mod just because i wanted some thing called space bucks XD
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 1. apr. 2015 kl. 7:49
Leviticus_Valdren: SpaceBucks are essentially components like construction components, or displays. The construction cost is what you'll get back in ingots when you disassemble them. There is a post earlier in this thread with the ingot cost per SpaceBuck.

Pecs: Thank you :) I'm glad you like the mod.

pokemonsucks: Hopefully the server will be up later this week. I'll post a link here when it is.
Cyrus Tarkek 1. apr. 2015 kl. 5:53
what mechanic determines what ingot you get back from disassembling spacebucks? Or is there different space bucks for each ingot type?
BumRuler 1. apr. 2015 kl. 2:42
@Pecs. Shhh. dont feed the trolls.
Pecs 31. mar. 2015 kl. 18:18
tnt fan you should appreciate this kind sir being able to mod because he could very well make an amazing invention that nobody has ever thought of. Thats actually what he just did by making a currency made up of all of the ingots... Don't hate, appreciate!
Pecs 31. mar. 2015 kl. 18:15
Absolutely amazing... You sir deserve to be a gadgillionare... With pet dinosaur of course.
zXabbadonXz 31. mar. 2015 kl. 16:50
is the sever up yet
Shmebulock 31. mar. 2015 kl. 9:25
Anyway you could've just asked Sektan to make one without custom ore
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 31. mar. 2015 kl. 7:36
tntfan123: Sektan has a very good mod and I do suggest everyone to go check it out if they are looking for a currency system to add to their game. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=341295575&searchtext=ecoin I created this mod for my server because I dont like adding non vanilla ore types to my games. While this mod may look similar, it is not a copy of Sektan's Ecoin mod. It is a completely different mod with different mechanics.
Shmebulock 31. mar. 2015 kl. 6:55
Don't download this copy usethe original made by Sektan
Bl4ckDevilHD 31. mar. 2015 kl. 2:50
@Kip Wilson To buy a ship with them shuld be pretty easy with an script in a programmable block that checks the inventory of an "safe" where you put the SpaceBucks in.
Derpman 30. mar. 2015 kl. 19:14
oh ok, cool.
Kip Wilson  [ophavsmand] 30. mar. 2015 kl. 18:15
Stardeiver: Yes, you can disassemble SpaceBucks back into ingots through the Assmbler just like any other component.

Wrex: Thanks :) I plan on using this mod with the Cargo Shop script to setup in game material trading. But I've also thought how you could do it to say purchase a ship by using SpaceBucks to open a hanger door or somehing.
