Overall I've found using ramps as sort of intermediate-local-main-roads seems to work far better than using 4 or 6-lane main roads... I've pretty much given up on 4 and 6 lane entirely.
people pull away from the light here seeming to try to get to that next stoplight over 70 miles away before it changes.
they must be going pretty fast by the time they get to this part of the map.
great to see a map of a place so close to where i live, even if it's not %100 acurate, i still am glad it's here.
you did good.
thank you
@johnsmithperson - It's actually not Mad River (although I'm loving the name!)... it's Little River, the next one north. It just occured to me that I had no real idea what the area looks like in reality. I just google-streetviewed it, and well, I can see why you don't recognize it! Yep, a *lot* of artistic license was employed :-P
The islands off the shore are entirely invented for background flavour, and I imagine the river isn't quite a valley-filling amazoneque channel in reality. I hope you don't mind the liberties I took with your hometown :-)
Every time I start a map, the same issue always arrises, and I end up dumping like 10 grand into trying to build the perfect junction that both allows a sturdy initial road, but also allows expansion in the future. The roundabout here is done, I can skip that step, and get into dumping 10 grand into building some other inane road system now!
Seriously, you just shaved like 20 minutes off my next city start up time.
