Ok mods been tested as working with DLC in its current form. evan if it reports as incompatable. im not sure how balenced it is in its current for with the combat changes in the new DLC but feel free to let me know here and il see what i can do if it is too strong or to weak,

This is a standalone mod that added flak cannons to the base game. not compatable with DLC at present.

Have not had a play around with SR2 for a while and dont have the DLC as yet. if the mods not working with the DLC then can not do much about it at the moment. Il get in touch with some of the other modders from back when i made this and see if i can get something sorted.

yeah just checked and it is a naming issue conflict from both mods having the same weapon name. il get it sorted shortly.

reason is a name conflict probably, as the alternate mod has a flak module as well, yours has the abillity to go inside hexed hull though, the abem mod flak is different then yours, its a slow system that fires large exploding projectiles, comparable to micro torpedoes, but this is a plus, it makes your mod viable..... maybe release a version compatible with alternate, which differs from their flak even more? maybe more range, and speed but more spread etc to really stand out from theirs?

this mod seems to conflict with the "alternate balance expansion mod" after enabling either this mod or the other, the game blackscreens and doesnt do anything else, i would really like this mod to work, would you mind to look into this issue?

I tried this out and placed some on a size 500 Galactica-class Battlestar in my sandbox design world, put it up against a battleship with 568 of my size 1 RZ-1 A-wing interceptors.. I wasn't too impressed. It looks awesome and the concept is great, but the flak cannons work more like a flak machinegun; the firerate is way to high (only 0.15 reload speed) and this leads to the individual projectiles doing way to little damage. If the reload speed can be changed to something like 1 full second, the projectiles should have a lot more punch to them. This will make them more effective against flagships as well, but as long as their overal DPS remains lower then that of other weapons (like railguns), then flagship vs flagship battles should be won by the ship not using flak.

also keep in mind that the currnet versions of flak cannons do very small amounts of damage. it is better to instal 2 or 3 units at most with 2/4 hex worth for a size 100-500 flagship.

many 1 hex flaks will look very pretty, but wont be that effective damage wise

as they are programmed currently they should prioretize smaller ships but i have yet to get them not to fire at flagships.

as it stands even hits to the flagship should help reduce the number of small ships in the area. also even when firing at the flagship it has a pretty large spread arc so unless your parked right on there flagship there should be considerable overspray.

first versions did have external mountings and fire arcs but it just didnt feel right if you take my meaning.

I gave it a try and it really works. It also looks pretty badass. The only issue I've encountered so far comes from the game's own targeting script. You can mount a huge amount of flak cannons on your ship, and they will all attack the same target. Mostly a capital ship. The simple workaround can be provided by good old firing arcs. Just give the flak guns a lot of health (for a subsystem of course), broad firing arc and mount them outside the ship, on the external armor. Then just casually jump into the middle of enemy formation and watch the fireworks!

sorry mate, im not much for graphics design, was just trying to fill what i saw to be a weapon system that would be a good addition. im sure somone here is able to do it , although im noot sue the BSG shipsets really work with the game style. SR1 was able to make proper "carriers" not so much in SR2

just to answer that first one. i found large ships had to much issue with killing swarms of size or very small supports. this weapon is designed to help in this area. when someone spams 5000 size 1 gnats what are only really counterable with another fleet of size one midgets. this weapon gives you a viable option without having to resort to swarm "tactics"

First opinion - not enough detail in the description to see whether I'd like it or not - but I'll download it and have a look in the editor :)
