Generally, that issue is caused by the sound file being too long or short compared to the original file. Check to see if the file is the /exact/ length of the original because thats something that the game looks at when reading them. It could also be the Hz setting youre saving the files as but Im not entirely sure.

Hey, I'm having issues with one of my mods. I created a mod which replaces some of coach's voice lines, but when the sounds are played in game, they sound like really low pitched growls. Could you help me out and let me know why this is? Great work on the mod btw :D

Yeah, I wish I had a studio mic, but Im broke as hell. I just use my Afterglow headset and back up when things get too loud. Im working on the Spitter as we speak!

I into the game files (steam\steamapps\common\left4dead2\sounds) and find the sounds I want to replace. Then I just throw them into Audacity, record my voice, and cut the sound to be the same length. Theres a bit of pitch shifting and gain tweaking since my mic sucks but other than a few instances, its pretty simple.
