also, good to know it's exploit free. There is one thing to know: Paint Fizzlers have a slight exploit: I discovered the gel it fizzles can stick to surfaces on BOTH sided of the fizzler, which is a key reason i scrapped the conversion gel from this map, cause it defeats the purpose of a fizzler.

i'll try encorperating some of your suggestions into a new map, but not right now. Right now i'm setting up a build server for something else. A mini series sounds good, so i might try making one.

Played it again. It is better focused and exploit free but I was kind of hoping for reflection gel puzzles that required portals to apply the gel. As for the gel droppers, it may be better to have the droppers in "drip" mode instead of "light", "medium", "heavy", or "bomb" modes.

As for the layout of the two chambers, it is probably better if you create a linear path instead of a circle back to the "main hub" because the hallways with the occasional button felt more like filler than anything. The puzzles are kind of dissappointing and wasn't very well paced. I don't think it introduces the concepts very well and it gets too complicated too fast. Needs a bit more of a streamlined approachs similar to how the single player story mode introduced blue gel. Maybe I can help by designing a mini series.

Well, that is focused testing.

just a quick verification: I didn't remove those tests ENTIRELY. i removed the conversion gel in both tests, but replaced them with the stuff i said earlier. You'll see if you play the map again. I also added more fizzlers and made the fizzler walls non portalable to stop portal bumping

Probably for the better because you don't want to overwhelm the test subject with too much. If the puzzle requires a lot of information to process, a tutorial room is the best route to go to ease them into mechanics used so they can have a better time. Pacing is important. Take note of how many chambers you had to go through before going into the meaty test chambers in single player story mode.

i edited and republished the map. I wound up removing the conversion gel puzzles, i replaced the first one with a reflection gel one. and i changed the last one to a surface switching wall

I tell people to Google it because a lot of people may not know what it is because I used it in their chamber to bypass things.

i know what portal bumping is, i was hoping i had plugged those holes. i'll fix it when i get home. I saved the map puzzle file

As for the test itself, it is very exploitable, especially with white gel in place. The first problem is "portal bumping" between fizzlers (Google it); white gel or white walls. I never used reflection gel at all! Best way to solve the hallway exploit portal bump is to make sure there are no portal surfaces all around the fizzler. The other portal bump fix with the second white gel dropper is to do something like this:

actually, the paint fizzler is in hammer. I found it there a long time ago, but never got it to work. And the gel is not FULLY gone. I noticed the reflection gel spray after hitting the paint fizzler was PURPLE. Purple was the adhesion gel color. So the gel still has some files in the game. Also, I never added custom files to the bsp. If paint fizzlers ARE custom, it was added to the map file by beemod2. Thanks for your comment though. But how did i do with this map?

Just so you know, the paint fizzler is a custom entity created by Felix Griffin:

The reflection gel was an unused gel but still found in the catacombs of Hammer when creating Portal 2 content. That is how adhesive gel was first found but was removed eventually for good after the slip when Portal 2 Authoring Tools - Beta was first released.

I liked all of the unused elements. Keep up the good work!
