Hi folks

As I've been getting a lot of requests to do custom versions of these and it is getting a bit out of hand, I've put up a fairly simple tutorial to create your own, and I won't be taking any more requests, sorry, I just don't have the time to keep following through on all of them.

I appreciate people's enjoyment of my mods and want to make it clear this is aimed at no one user, this comment will be posted on all of my current mods so people see it. Try it out and have some fun, it's actually pretty easy to do!

I've looked at it a bit more and my version no longer works on L4D1 campaigns either. I'm afraid I'm not sure why though, the last stand update broke a lot of scripts that run on maps using the original survivors.

can you make no armor and jimmy version? if thats possible?

The mod should already work on L4D1 maps, if it isn't you might have something else conflicting with it.

Unfortunately, though, you cannot use L4D1 and L4D2 zombie models in the same map, they use different model formats and using both at the same time crashes the game.

Hello I recently played with this mod and it was REALLY REALLY FUN, but I was wondering if you would ever consider doing one just like this but minus clowns, mudmen, and the construction workers? I love the challenge they give for sure, but CEDA agents, riot, and fallen survivor are the only ones that give you valuable items then killed. If not possible I understand.

Man wants a version without clowns just make a version with ALL clowns.

No, they're not on the workshop (apart from the third campaign, which is is) but you can install them manually into the addons folder.

So its not a steam addon?

It's from a custom campaign called Questionable Ethics. You can find it on the l4d2 gamemaps site.

its been a few years. I cant get it to work. ive tried restarting the game, ive checked for conflicting files, the only thing i havnt tried is turning every mod i have other then this off and then trying it, but at that point it wouldnt be worth it.

Er. Let me reformulate my suggestion. I would have very much loved to have a version of this add-on WITHOUT Clowns (outside of Dark Carnival only), Mudmen (outside of Swamp Fever only) and Fallen Survivors (outside of The Passing only). No kidding, this work of yours is amazing, but these 3 uncommon infected make the game lose a bit of its realism (in my opinion)

Can you make a version without Gibbs Jr AND clowns? Because it's a little unrealistic to see clowns in campaigns where they shouldn't be, such as The Parish and Swamp Fever.

It's actually fairly easy, the game has a file called population.txt where the populations for all the default campaigns are defined, as well as a generic default for third party campaigns and all you have to do is edit the file so that all zombies are added to all lists, and have the same probability of appearing. And you need a definition file that allows he game to list and see the mod. Then you use the "VPK" exe in the game's /bin/ folder to turn it into a usable addon.

Its no big deal. It works now. Im happy, (and so are other people :) )

That's still pretty peculiar, but it's probably about as good as I'm likely to get it.

Ok, should be fixed now. I checked it with a better VPK tool and it turns out it wasn't packaged properly for some reason.

I've gone through and checked the script and it's no different from all the others that work properly in terms of structure so I'm honestly at a loss as to why it's doing this. I'll try and run a gameplay test and see if I can figure it out. Sorry I can't offer anything more helpful but as it's just a single file it makes troubleshooting a bit tricky.

Can you check and see if you have something done with the addons, in the files and other things, to see if there is some change (maybe one you didn't notice hidden somewhere) that could prevents this mod from working for some people?

Yeah, it downloads it and activates it next time you launch the game.

I downloaded the version stored on the servers to double check it and it's definitely formatted and packaged correctly, it's really odd that this one won't work where the others did.

I should only have to hit "Subscribe" and its on, like the others, right? No going into the PC's Folders or anything and manually sorting things

I did. I unsub'd from it and anything similer. It doesn't work. I thought it was because i was playing Hard-Eight Mutation, but i went on Single Player and it still doesn't work.

I Unsub'd from the other ones, i dont have conflicting addons, and i checked Single Player, Survival, and Mutation.

Nothing

They're exactly the same script, but having multiple versions of it installed can cause problems. Unsub from the other ones and see what happens.

It doesn't alter spawn rate, it only increases the range of common infected that appear.

This one seems to have decreased spawn rate.

Unfortunately I have no skills at modelling, if I did I'd certainly consider adding some more amusing models into the game :)
