The next iteration will also be removing the 5 battles for the first ten traits, as combined with below - I felt that created a lot of lower level generals/rulers that had more skills than what I wanted.

I'm editing this in a big way because after a few playthroughs I feel like it's OP.

I'm going to be spreading out the battles more, adding ten new traits (Bloodsworn to Bloodgod), reducing the prowess overall (too many mods add prowess, and as much as I'd like these traits to make people gain skills in battle through experience, my own modsets have proven this to be unwise, and I'll be adjusting completely).

I took Warfather because the concept actually is out there.

All-father. Victory father, Father of hosts. It's got several similar names across multiple cultures (especially Norse, which is why I almost didn't include it, as I felt it might be too tribal sounding).

Small issue with Battlegod - it currently has a +1 health bonus and that is unintended and will be fixed in the next update. The only health bonuses come in the final levels.

I still almost used King, because plenty of cultures use it, but it is also used in game a TON and I didn't really want these to be viewed as "ranks" in a traditional sense. (Otherwise I'd have used Commander and more, as it was I nearly didn't use Marshal)

I avoided certain names/titles.

I avoided any name that I didn't think looked good with Battle/War in front of it. I also avoided names/titles that pointed to a specific set of government or ruler types.

Warden, Lord, & Marshal are all used by multiple cultures in a variety of different ways.

Even cultures that didn't have "lords" as a feudal rank would sometimes use a title that aligns with Lord.

King, & another I almost used - Chief, seem to align too much in my head one way or another. Chief to tribal, king to feudal.

I wanted titles that were generic enough you could potentially use them across the entire map.

Would love to hear more feedback on these ranks in general. Are folks liking them?

So far I'm enjoying my 5 battles per level because the bonuses are minor at those levels so it doesn't result in OP generals everywhere, while still adding flavor in tracking their development and battles.

I.e. in my game currently one AI has 90 battles won and is getting to be a bit of a legend. But he'll die soon and all his sons have around 70 or so victories and pretty good generals themselves. Sensing an Alexander style situation developing that most mods wouldn't allow you to see on a glance.

(Also, I'm flexible on some names if folks have suggestions. I'm currently looking at Battlewarden and Warwarden, not a huge fan of it).

I'm open to adjustment, my original idea was to have this 20 trait mod with 5 levels to 25, but the switch from 25 to 35 and so ... for some reason bugged me so I tried this.

A player character (Especially a raider type/norse etc) will/can indeed do that. The only time I've hit maxed battles (220) on a non-long lived character was with raiders. Since the AI itself tends to ... randomly use characters I adjusted for the AI because I tend to be a little more of a sit back and watch player (otherwise game is too easy).

I also do not want a huge battle tracker (220 is a lot as it is, most mods similar mods stop at 50 and there is a chance it impacts performance, so going higher would definitely cause issues)

I'm going to play test it some more. in my prior god of war mod, after 100+ years, most characters didn't get past 30 battles, so 7/10 of the ranks went mostly unused.

Health really tends to become an OP trait and I do not like the idea of my guys who are normal humans getting health bonuses and living for ever.

THAT is what the other mod is for. If you want to live forever, you gotta breed into it. At least for me.

Another thing you could add is some life extension similar to your blood mod. They say battles immortalize you in legend, imagine they actually made you live longer lol.

i like the idea of increasing it, it would feel more natural to be maybe every ten battles? or id reccomend making it an option to switch between XP (number of battles) amounts in the game rules

What do we think, do we like the 5 battle differences with lesser increases with more noticable power ups later on? or would we prefer I space out more ten battle differences in there instead of having 2x20, 1x25, 1x30?

I find this way the AI gets a lot of characters that get 5-8 ranks, with those higher than that being quite rare. compared to a straight level ten increase, that really happens to slow down progression from a 'story' perspective.

fixed minor bug with some of the later trait images, added some female localization for some appropriate ranks (but note, not Battlelord/Warlord ranks - yet - hate the sound of Battlelady/warlady... was thinking maybe Lady of Battle/Lady of War but I'd prefer to keep to Battlelord/Warlord for consistency.)

do note, if you replace war veterans - unsure compat- or God of War - will work - that your battle # will not carry over, JUST the TRAIT LEVEL. This may end up nerfing some of your characters with pre-existing traits around the 1-6 tier ranks in particular. For me? I do not particularly care in my current game, since I only had just started it and most of the max ranks were around 30 battles - 3 ranks in God of war, 6 here for example - so expect your characters at that bonus to get less skills then before if transitioning...

(for those using War Veterans, or God of War, you SHOULD be able to just turn those off and turn this on - as long as they are using the same title system there should be no real issues)
