Nice mod dude 10/10
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 6. juni 2019 kl. 10:55
They're just slow missiles, pals.
S.S.Mogeko 2. juni 2019 kl. 18:40
Ahh i see the script for these bombs were made before planets and as such the gravity aspect has broken the bombs.
Dreph 2. juni 2019 kl. 13:50
I think if you made the bombs penetrate the shield of the popular shield mods are increased their damage by 15% this would be the most popular weapon on the workshop.
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 2. juni 2019 kl. 11:29
It was an odd system to begin with, with a specific use-case. It's even more marginalised since the advent of planets with their atmospheres and gravity. It just wouldn't make sense.
S.S.Mogeko 31. maj 2019 kl. 17:32
Update this by any chance?
Spiffing Reynard 4. maj 2019 kl. 10:04
lol
Keladwyn Solkas 10. juli 2018 kl. 15:21
Something tells me that the Rebels paid you to design something for their Y-wings, something that could possibly blow apart a fully operational battle station...
[TSF] Mason 1290 14. maj 2018 kl. 3:15
what you should do then. is make this one for small ships and make a double or triple length version for larger ships. or you can keep the cal the same, and just make it one block again. because it seams really out of place on larger grids
Dreph 9. maj 2018 kl. 13:10
Okay thanks. If you do find out what it is for certain let me know.
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 9. maj 2018 kl. 12:33
I... don't know actually. I forget what the cutoff size is. I don't think it can go through small ones, off the top of my head.
Dreph 9. maj 2018 kl. 10:51
Do the bombs travel through small ship small conveyor tubes?
Dreph 2. mar. 2018 kl. 8:26
@PotatoedTophat I believe that it is actually called the "wakebomb launcher" in game. Just use the search and you should find it.
oneiroi 24. feb. 2018 kl. 23:35
I can't find this weapon in the weapons tab, and it doesn't appear that there is a CSD tab, either.
Could someone point me to where it is?
Thanks.
Anarch Cassius 12. feb. 2018 kl. 10:55
It works well now that I understand the limits and definitely fills a needed niche.
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 12. feb. 2018 kl. 10:52
Yeah, it's a bid hacky and oddly specific, I only really made it because I liked the idea of a space dive bomber!
Anarch Cassius 12. feb. 2018 kl. 10:18
Okay, given the damage output I can totally live with the speeds.

It only really seemed off to me because if I mount it backwards as suggested I need to counter the momentum of it's launch or they wind up moving back away from the target or standing nearly still.

So I figured 40 m/s was a good deploy speed, but it's actually like 60+ if you mount backwards and you'll run into your bomb going over 20m/s if it's mounted forwards.
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 12. feb. 2018 kl. 1:20
I should add that you don't gain anything by gunning it past 40m/s, as the bomb, which deploys relative to the launcher at 20m/s, will then inherit the full 40m/s bringing it to a global -20m/s relative to the launcher's heading. This isn't a high-speed weapon by any means.
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 12. feb. 2018 kl. 1:18
After some testing, this seems to work as intended. The bomb should never exceed 20m/s in *any* direction regardless of inherited momentum. It's not so much that drag-lunching it will give it better performance, it's more that this is the only safe way to deploy it. You can, of course, launch them from a stationary position, if tactically viable. Generally it's a last-second-dive-bomb kind of weapon. Think space-stuka.
Anarch Cassius 12. feb. 2018 kl. 0:28
Yeah... sort of works may have been optimistic.

When I say fire forward, I mean relative the launcher... so the suggested backwards mounting results in the launch force and ship momentum canceling each other and the bombs move slowly if at all.

Orient it with the ship and the bombs launch, but their speed cap causes you to ram into them instantly and jitter like mad.

The only viable way now is to orient forward and launch from incredibly low speeds.

Looks amazing now though :)
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 11. feb. 2018 kl. 6:31
That sounds a bit fucky. I'll try it out when I find a moment. Thanks!
Anarch Cassius 10. feb. 2018 kl. 15:28
Well I have good new and bad news.

Good news: The graphical error was fixed by recent patches.

Bad news: It now fires away forward from the ship like a normal missle instead of coming out the back. It seems to inherit some of the ship's momentum but will launch forward from a standstill.

To be honest it sort of works like this.
Anarch Cassius 20. jan. 2018 kl. 12:47
Not so much the models as the alignment of the flare effects. The thrust exhaust overlaps the missle and the thruster flare winds up well ahead of both.
Witt 20. jan. 2018 kl. 11:56
Is there an update in the works for this little beauty? I have a player on my server that would very much like the mod installed. He says they still work, though the models are a little wonky, at this date.

Great stuff, Ninja!
PotBird 9. jan. 2018 kl. 23:16
Omg i been for something like this
<3 <3
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 17. dec. 2017 kl. 14:17
Oh, that's a relief. Yes, I've uploaded the updated battlecannon, have yet to upload auto and scattercannons. In the works. Glad the launcher is working as intended. Cheers!
envy 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:51
@NinjaPirate Whoops, turns out it was a mod conflict of some sorts, or problem with the world, because when I tested it on a fresh world, it worked as it should. Still, auto- and scattercannon remain broken. Sorry for the trouble.
envy 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:45
Also, bomb launcher and scattercannon have little white backgrounds, and autocannon doesn't show up at all in the G menu. Hope I helped
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:41
The other weapons won't fire because my built .mwm models don't have data for a barrel piece, since they're based on the gatling gun. The missile launcher had no such fault as far as I was aware, but thanks for bringing it up. I'll see what I can find.
envy 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:40
Which are all unique in some way
envy 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:40
Would be great if you could fix it, it's the only mod adding good balanced weapons for small grids
envy 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:39
@NinjaPirate It doesn't do anything when you pull the trigger. Same for most of CSD collection blocks.
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:38
That's a damn shame. In what way?
envy 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:37
@NinjaPirate It appears to be broken currently
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 17. dec. 2017 kl. 4:29
I can get behind that! Post a link here if you wind up making a dive-bomber!
Dixie Asian 16. dec. 2017 kl. 17:11
STUKA TIME
Laffyistired 8. dec. 2017 kl. 23:35
hi is it working

envy 13. nov. 2017 kl. 11:41
@NinjaPirate Have you quitted modding?
Queue 29. okt. 2017 kl. 23:06
what if it was to face down?
Niska 13. sep. 2017 kl. 4:54
when i have time i'll get back to you on the rough range :D
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 12. sep. 2017 kl. 16:55
That's a good question, I'm not actually sure! By design, it's really the *opposite* of what you propose, this is a close and personal dive-bomb sort of weapon. I've never tested it in any other application myself.
Niska 12. sep. 2017 kl. 16:17
quick question, what is the range on this thing? if it's super long range that might make it far more valuable opposed to a standard rocket launcher and you could truely "bombard" targets from a distance before closing in with other ships >:D
NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 28. mar. 2017 kl. 15:47
That's all this is I'm afraid, it's a very slow backwards missile launcher that, when fired in space from a forward moving craft, inherits most of the craft's velocity and will 'follow' that momentum towards the intended target as the craft pulls out of that trajectory. It won't work as intended in-atmosphere because of how screwy projectiles and missile are on planet surfaces - they don't really follow any known laws of physics!
Mobius 1 28. mar. 2017 kl. 15:34
doesnt work for me on planets just continues to fly backwards
Shroom 18. sep. 2016 kl. 14:33
PM me on Steam I'll find you somebody
Cheetah 17. sep. 2016 kl. 21:05
I was really busy IRL and I need a modeller who could make a new Bomb launcher. So currently fix is stalled.
Shroom 17. sep. 2016 kl. 19:23
@Cheetah what's the status of your attempted fix? I just saw this old conversation and was curious what the status of this mod is
Cheetah 8. juni 2016 kl. 1:34
Sorry for delay, I was a tad busy IRL and with fixing other mods.
Anyway, here it is:

NinjaPirate  [ophavsmand] 24. maj 2016 kl. 11:38
I'd prefer if you made your own version applying the same principles. By the sounds of it, starting with a blank up-to-date vanilla missile launcher template is best, and even my 3D models are outdated to the point that I'm surprised they still render in-game. It's all work-arounds and temporary fixes that are barely holding together at this point.

But ultimately, whatever. If you do it, throw me an invite on steam before you upload it so we can go over it first, that's my only condition.
Cheetah 24. maj 2016 kl. 11:11
If you are not maintaining these mods... can I have a permission to try to fix this bug and, if successful, re-upload it to Workshop? Of course, all credit will be given to you.
