If you are also getting a crash with Status Announcement I rewrote this mod : https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2677999830

This has to be my favorite ever mod for DST. I'm not sure how others are crashing but it works fine for me, there is, however, a crash when you use status announcement.

The mod doesn't seem to work for me. Is it still up to date?

Are there any dedicated servers running this mod?

I'd perhaps like it so the first 10 days (For each person) you can use global, and on the fifth/ninth day it warns the player that they will lose global chat in x time.

Otherwise, good mod!

How about an option where you can configure it based on days? So for instance a player below 10/20/30 days etc cant see or use global chat?

Just looking to cut down on the 'WHERE IS BASE!' chat, and make people go offf on their own.

it seems peter a klei do only the simple stuff that will never crush. so you can subscribe those anyway... subscribed, even if i won't use it much.

Just came to say that this mod is sneakily good. I got it to avoid the annoying "where is da base?" every time someone logs into my public-facing server, but it added something new entirely... That player who's been here for 15 days, and we've never seen... What is he up to? Does he know where we are? Is he potentially hostile, or will he be friendly? The complete mystery about the nature and intentions of the unmet players adds a lot of depth.

@Trilbeat, no I don't believe it disables the broadcast messages. That's an interesting though, thanks for the feedback!

nice

Hm, does this disable the death message broadcasts? ("Wilson died and became a spooky ghost!") Personally, I see a bit of appeal in not knowing the fate of your friends who decided to walk out into the dark with only a torch.

Thanks for the feedback about the length of time w0rbz!

For your second point you should be able type this into the console TheNet:Say("hello everyone", false) and that will go out to everyone like a normal message would.

After having tried this for a short while, I've discovered a couple of problems. The first is that if someone says something that's a bit too long, the message tends to disappear before people get a chance to read it. Would it be possible to base the length of time the text appears, on the overall length of the message?

The second not-really-a-problem I've noticed is that it would be nice if the host still had a way to make announcements to all players globally, for instance to give warning that the server's going down or that it's being restarted, or whatever else. Is there already a work-around for this?
