This next update, however, is shaping up to be the biggest one yet outside of new content. It focuses on massive improvements to the nextbots’ code, specifically their pathfinding. In short: no more lag spikes, no more expensive pathfinding, and no more demons endlessly chasing unreachable targets (and lagging asf). With these changes, their AI will also feel much more "intelligent."
What does this mean for you? You’ll finally be able to play maps with less-than-perfect navmeshes without being stuck at 1–2 FPS because of the nextbots. So far, testing has shown these improvements to be very effective, I was able to play on a large, uneven map with tons of demons, and not once did I encounter a lag spike.
So, yes surprise!
When will there be an update?
There’s no specific release date yet, but rest assured there will be an update eventually.
Why haven’t there been any updates?
The addon simply hasn’t been worked on in a while. Life gets busy, and sometimes we focus on other projects or personal matters. That’s all.
What could be coming in the next update (which, again, has no estimated release date)?
Some of the things currently being considered or worked on include: New models and animations for some demons, Special attack for the Stone Imp, Riot Soldier, New AI for the Marauder, Glory kill system, Options to disable gore, Possible tweaks to the nextbot AI and perhaps a few other things still under discussion.
