To resolve the issue, I had to unsubscribe from the mod, enabled other mods, and then resubscribed this mod.
The region is indeed fascinating, but I only managed to explore 6,7 screens before encountering these issues.
the rooms aren't full of jagged and obnoxiously complex geometry, the creatures are well balanced, i've only seen one of the custom creatures in this so far but it's one of my favorite ones, and the environments are actually nicely detailed and fairly unique.
my only complaint so far has to be that the threat music is too loud and the layering of it is too simple, so it gets repetitive easily. typically vanilla threat themes have 7 or 8 layers made for them but only play up to 5 at once.
...Watching your unique platforming challenges has made me decide to start making Metroidvania-style slugcat mod in a month or so. I might be reaching out to include your unique rooms as platforming challenges in the mod sometime... if I ever have time to begin work on the mod...
