Kind of? The view on the lens is almost perfectly centered on the crosshair (at least in 16:9 resolutions, can't vouch for widescreen) so technically you could disable the crosshair and aim with it.

If you're asking if you can press a button to look through the scope like with the crossbow, no, that's not possible without making a mod. This is just a model swap.

That's because this model replaces game_sounds_manifest.txt to make its new reloading sounds work. The only way to change that would be to edit the model, which isn't something I know how to do - I'm a texture-maker, not a model-maker.

You might have better luck with the SMG version of the OICW; I don't think it changes game_sounds_manifest.txt (though I might be misremembering). steam://openurl/https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3370321038

If I were to guess, I think the problem comes from both mods having a game_sounds_manifest.txt. Whoever imported this model into HL2 decided, for whatever reason, to script new sounds instead of replacing the old .wav files. I don't know how to edit models (just textures), so I'm not sure how to fix it.

It shouldn't do anything to any other weapon, and you're the first one to report that. Maybe it's a conflict with another mod?

Insofar as it shoots 5.56, I suppose it's like an M4. But I think it might be more fair to call it a "comically oversized grenade launcher spooning a miniature G36".

Thanks! I call this one the "Overwatch Interim Combat Weapon" since it's been refitted by the Combine ("Interim" meaning the time from "Overwatch occupation starts" to "human weapons/munitions have been depleted and phased out".) That way it can have a somewhat unique name and still be an "OICW".

Go ahead (when you upload it's private by default). I usually use the /custom folder when testing stuff since you can reload materials in the console, not sure if there's a command to reload a model.

It doesn't happen in all maps, try starting the game at the Sandtraps chapter and checking it there.

No, I mean the polygons of part of the scope that shows you the low-light view (the part with the RT texture) is Z-fighting with black polygons behind it.

Again, textures are fine. This is an issue with the model's geometry.

Do you think you can fix the (what I'm assuming is) z-fighting on the scope in this model (it only appears when looking in some directions)? Presumably the part with the RT texture is clipping and just needs to be moved out a tiny bit more.
