found the solution. in my case i play on linux and you have to do something special to get mods to work.

here is the fix for anyone else who has the same issue.

Any chance you could make something similar for blankets but not unlimited more like 5x the normal amount of charges?

It's working fine, this mod doesn't really touch the stethoscope functionality, it just gives it a lot of charges and then makes sure they are not spent when used.
