Amazing map, finding the solution was satisfying!!

Still a brilliant puzzle and still deserves to be in my list of favourites.

:D. Yeah I basically made this map after I thought the solution to White Room was super cheap :steamhappy:

I had to give up on "White Room" and facepalm'd after watching the solution. Looking up the crucial step for solving "White Room", I felt prepared for this chamber, but man, was I wrong! Your hint with the white walls next to the funnel got me in the right direction in the end. The solution is very elegant, great work! :bcportalhi:

@Joric Ok i'll just not click on your solution because i dont care lol. If you can't solve it without glitches, you didnt solve it, and I'm still winning ;)
Joric 22 iun. 2018 la 3:53
Yeah I'm fond of breaking other people's maps just like @Polux is fond of crazy jumping.
bullfrog 22 iun. 2018 la 1:48
Played this brilliant puzzle last year, before I knew how to record walkthroughs; just read @Joric's comment and looked at walkthrough; this is what I thought/think is the intended solution ?
Joric 21 iun. 2018 la 4:58
Doesn't seem intended at first https://youtu.be/fMq_mrrAtiw but you know @quaternary.

Fun map. I'd just played White Room so I solved this one pretty quickly but I always enjoy these kinds of flings.

Brilliant puzzle. This has been in my queue for over a month and I’ve tried to solve it many times, but failed. Well; this morning my one remaining brain cell FINALLY saw the light! Thank goodness there’s not a spoiler video showing the intended solution as I’m sure I would have looked at it by now. As @club says: ”there really were no crazy manoeuvres, it was just eluding my brain.” Thumbs up and added to favourites.

Been working on this forever, this morning the solution came to me. Now, it seems so simple. :)
jandlml 11 nov. 2015 la 16:09
never mind, i found what i needed to do to get the momentum i needed. great chamber again
jandlml 11 nov. 2015 la 15:27
i hope someone is still out there. i think i know how to finish this puzzle.for some reason im not getting high enough. i have the cube in the exit room, i have a portal on the ceiling in the exit room, am i supposed to put a portal unser the funnel and fling myself down through the ceiling back up through the portal to the funnel. i am getting where i could almost kiss the funnel. is this wrong. if it worked it would solve

This map is more challenging than placer mining Miocene gold overlain by Pleistocene basalt flows.
Almisuifre 23 nov. 2014 la 5:22
Entertaining map, with a simple design, well done.

I enjoyed the solution to this, very good.

Can I have a hint please, I really don't understand.
My brain is out of order..............

Thanks for playing Club, and congrats!

Yay it finally came to me, while I was in a totally different game, still obsessing over this puzzle. Wow, and there really were no crazy maneuvers, it was just eluding my brain. I feel better now :) Nice work indeed.

Thank you S! Glad you liked the theming, I put a lot of my time into the visuals on my chambers :)
SevenSilhouette 28 oct. 2014 la 5:36
Very good map! Had me thinking for a bit, I hadn't played portal for a while so i was a little rusty but i managed to get it. This has made me want to check out your other ones. I hope they all are as challenging as this one. Also as a side note, i was very into the minimalism of this chamber.
quat  [autor] 27 oct. 2014 la 19:17
I have a white surface next to the funnel, it's just a little lower in mine. You're getting the idea, but you'll never need to assume that *exact* position to solve. In fact, I don't think you can.

One last hint: ceilings
club 27 oct. 2014 la 18:59
Hm, I got that far, working backwards. And I got through white room. Of course white room has a significant difference of a portal surface alongside the funnel. If I can get into this situation:

(with me, the cube, and my portals positioned as shown) I could solve it from there. But getting into that position is utterly breaking my brain. Am I at least on the right track to be trying to acheive that arrangement?
quat  [autor] 27 oct. 2014 la 17:48
Oh and @toncica, I think I'll keep it as an alternate because it's really smart and clever. and I can cheat as much as I want >:D
quat  [autor] 27 oct. 2014 la 17:40
Don't feel bad, it's a difficult chamber and I'm horrible at judging difficulty after playing for so long :/ I should change it anyways.

There's some rather unorthodox vertical flinging (think "No elements" or my puzzle "Transist"), and one time you place a portal under a box that's resting on a white floor across the room , but nothing I would call a dirty trick per se. Try toncica's original White Room as well - my chamber is pretty much White Room with more flinging.

End goal = get yourself, the box, and the funnel in to the exit room. Now you're only 1 portal away from winning . Best of luck!

With comments like "medium-hard" and "not too hard", I feel like a complete scrub for not being able to solve this. :( I dont claim to be any kind of Portal pro, but I've made it through everything Mevious has done for both Portal 1 & 2, and have yet to run into any workshop chambers that I finally had to give up on, until now. I just simply cant solve it. I get that I'm supposed to be in the upper funnel with the cube being pushed against the black-wall button, and I recognize a floor-ceiling fling that could be used to get me up into the funnel. And still, I just cant find what I'm missing. Is there any what you'd call "non standard" techniques or manuevers required? I feel like theres some reason the white-wall button is sideways to lend itself to some unusual manuever, like trying to lean the cube against it something. What am I missing?
toncica 27 oct. 2014 la 3:56
You used black tiles to prevent alternatives ways cheater! :P , but I noticed one thing. It's not a big deal, most people probably find this legit.

Not like White Room because not white. :D
Nice design, everybody has to think for a bit even when familar with the concept. Well done.

Brilliant Puzzle! Very clever. Not hard... not easy. "No elements" +"One element"= Win. Well done.
