My friend made a really nice rover planet "Arcadia" with 5 different biomes you can drive all over.

I found the best way to connect the rover to a base is to build a small platform in the ground (3x3) and have a piston and connector extend up from the ground to connect to port underneath the rover.
Another way would be to slightly modify the back end of the rover and stick a connector on the rear as there many conveyor ports at the rear (Hydro thrusters etc)

PS. any chance we could have the small rover you got in one of the pictures? mine are all way to wide to fit in this hangar :D :D :D
