I haven't heard any crying or whimpering sounds, the closest are dying light's virals. but most of their sounds are of aggression, maybe you could search some sound libraries, make them yourself or hire voice actors. (if you can of course)

Oh yeah, there are a surprising amount of textures.
Remember to take advantage of brushes and opacity to make blood.

Gimp has a brush that looks like a splatter, and I reduce the opacity, to create a sort of gradient for the blood.
Without gradient blood can look too cartoony.

Krita should have a similar thing.

Im using Krita (maybe Ill change to GIMP later) and using your humanized zomboids mod as base, im making them mad and full of blood depending on the stage of infection. when Im done, Ill let you know and Ill show you, this is going to take some time tho I didnt know there was that much textures. I guess that its time to enjoy the process. Thank you for letting other people create their own things with your creations, thats awesome.

I have a tutorial in one of my collections.

It would likely be easier to start from scratch with a photoediting software.

Making them not angry was actually an intentional design choice.

The Rage infected have a form of Rabies, they are disoriented, and hyper aggressive.

Pine Maddness infected, are scared, and confused. Crying, and whimpering is something I want to add as the sounds they make.
Their aggression comes from the fact they aren't the one at the wheel anymore, something is puppeting them while they feel all the pain.

I tried to make them have a worried expression in the earlier stages, then mute their expression in the later stages to make them appear blank.

I may eventually, but I don't want to promise anything because my motivation to do things is very unreliable.

I do want to get a Dying Light retexture done first, once I'm able to play the game again.
I've been putting it off since it's gonna be very difficult, but I want to give it my best shot.

I had heavy inspiration from Cabin Fever.
I also used medical images of the hemorrhagic rashes caused by Ebola to get a good idea of the colors, and symptoms to use.

I'm not squeamish so I can use the disease itself as reference.
I also learned alot about Ebola's history while making this. So it was a petty good learning experience as well.

This retexture is a favourite of mine, I like the detail of blood streaks from the eyes and wounds, it makes the Zombies seem more modern, more like something relatable to the L4D'S green flu rather than the classic Romero zombies.

I really hope to, but I currently only know how to swap existing textures.
I'd need a new zombie and new textures.
I'll need to do this when I finally figure out blender and Lua.
Once I do that there's alot I plan to do, once I'm no longer limited to 2d.

Since my mods work on textures they shouldn't need compatibility patches.

I'm glad someone added volatiles, it gives me even more motivation to do a Dying Light themed retexture.

I plan to have them start out looking like virals then transition into biters.
Speed should be able to be adjusted through a mod.
