Uh, The iron giant, juggernaugt suits are made to withstand high caliber weapons. If you understand balistic dynamics, than this will make complete sense, the suit need A LOT of material to stop 50,000 joules of force, kevlar that is 2 1/2 inches in thickness cannot stop 50,000 joules of copper, it can only cover half of that force, so the suit needs around 5 inches of kevlar (BTW, they use trauma plates, which reduce the ammount of materials needed).
