To replace the pawn.

what do you mean? make the models lay flat or have your camera be unable to see the board?

It's more convenient for us to have meeples be 3D models since we flip them to show that they are claiming fields :)

on another note, do you know how to change the camera perspesctive so that it shows the 3D models from the front instead of the top?

Make a 2 image of what you want the new meeple to look like it, then make a token of it.
