Thank you this saved me. I had a addon that made my screen blurry underwater even after i left water it made my screen blurry and awful for 40seconds, as i have 3000 addons i CANNOT find the addon and disable it, i have tried over and over again but this has saved my life,, Thank you. Works like a charm and i have removed the stupid water filter.

i dont think it effects anything like lighting, that map is pretty dark; so you probably just cant see things due to the lack of light

i used the base game console commands
including farz and most of the map still didn't render

It's possible the map has a low render distance set, try using "r_farz" with a really high value like 100000 and see if that helps.

i set start fog to max, went in water, and saw only blue
i got this because of thalassophobia problems
i just yelled "I DONT LIKE THAT I DONT LIKE THAT I DONT LIKE THAT" and alt f4'd the game

I don't believe so, unfortunately. The Lua API lets me access some info about the map geometry (like which brushes are considered water, and what materials they consist of) but doesn't seem to have anything for modifying it.

I don't see why not? I can't guarantee it'll work on every map (I'm aware of one case where it doesn't) but it should work on the vast majority.
