Also have you considered including a custom model for the river terrain to add river banks to the edges and make it less wide?

These four mods work together from my testing and playing. Given the lack of details I am unable to reproduce your situation as you may have other conflicts.
I have been able to use "Real Rivers" mod with the author's standard maps. Any suggestions on resolving this issue. Thank you.

Or would that need to do with actual normal rivers just running parallel in the same tile as the water tile as sometimes happens on random maps on the coast?
If so it would probably also only work on one side not on both?
