@JJ's Place, I believe that's because of the archaeologist's extremely high HP. The mod has a system where it automatically adds a Miniboss Healthbar for any entity with sufficiently high HP.

To resolve this, you can adjust some of the mod's config settings. You can either increase the HP threshold for Miniboss Bars, or - preferably - add the archaeologist to the Boss Bar blacklist.

So small interesting issue with SOTS mod one of their NPCs the archaeologist has a health bar that persists at all times with in a decent sized radius around it. but there is no boss bar for said NPC in the vanilla style old with the mod's boss bar.

@The TRUE SLAYER Dude, I won't be personally adding integrated support for other mods, but other modders can add custom boss bar logic for modded bosses by using Mod.Call.
There is a discussion thread on this steam workshop page that details how to use Mod.Call to add support for this mod.

If you'd like to see another mod (in this case, Calamity) add support for this mod's boss bars, I'd recommend making a request to the mod's devs.
Alternatively, if you or someone you know is willing and able, doing it yourself and making an add-on that implements the cross-compatibility is another option.

Anyone know how to make this mod work with bosses like Slime God from Calamity? I would preferably want it to be one cumulative bar of all the Paladins' HP.

The mod has been renamed to 'Block's Better Bars', as it now does more than just boss bars.
Once the patch notes are posted on the workshop, I'll (finally) start working on updated preview images.

...somehow the description includes the word 'boss' less times (17) than it did before? The word 'bar' is used 31 times, though! :steamhappy:

NOTICE: Recent updates (v1.2.X) over the past few weeks have added a TON of new appearances for boss bars.
As of writing, there are now 54 unique bar sprites total! (108 counting the 'long' variants!)

This - in addition to other new features - has, of course, left the workshop page's preview images super outdated, unfortunately.
Just wanted to acknowledge this fact so that ya'll are aware that I'm aware. I intend to make a bunch of new preview images once I'm done making new content for the mod. There's still a little more I wanna add, so bear with me!

@JJ's Place, yeah, the boss bar style setting is (AFAIK) the only exception to that (i.e. other mod settings are typically kept in the mod's respective config), as it's a feature added by tML itself and not any individual mod (Though you need a mod with its own boss bar style to use said feature, of course).

Ok i figured it out. Maybe adding a line in the description that tell new player how to use the mod. I've never seen a mod setting in the actual Tmodlader settings menu.

Yes i know i've messed around with all the configs. I have the style on Master Platinum, i have chipping and custom fill color on and all the extra bar for boss parts like skele and skele prime on no change. Just the vanilla bar.

@JJ's Place, the mod's custom bar is implemented as a 'boss bar style'. By default tML sets the active style to vanilla's, and you must change it to the one you want in Terraria's settings. IIRC the setting can be found in the Interface section of Terraria's settings menu (The one that can be accessed while the inventory is open), click on it to cycle through available styles and set it to the mod you want (In this case 'Block's Boss Bars'). Once set, your choice should persist until you disable the mod to which the boss bar style belongs.

I tired deleting and the reinstalling, the unsubscribing and re subscribing in the workshop and nothing changed the mod just seems to not be working.

So i have this mod enabled but none of the overhauled effects are being applied. Its like the mod isn't even installed. Should i delete it and then reinstall it?

@ClayWarTheOne, I should be able to modify the draw color of the bar (I.e. make it draw in something other than White, which draws the texture's pure, original colors), but it might not look good. I'll try it out when I add fill customization and see how it goes.

I feel like many people would want to change the colours of both (Golden ornaments, purple bar, appealing colour combos like that) but idk if you can even implement that, something like colour filters in photoshop, just for the two components. Anyways thanks for this awesome mod!!!

I see, could you add the option to change the colour/hue of the Ornaments (as in the sprite around the bar itself) like you're planning to do with the Boss Bar?

@ClayWarTheOne, though similar to the vanilla boss bar, this mod's bar does entirely replace the vanilla one when you select it as your boss bar. The textures and bar fill are both custom, so they aren't affected by vanilla resource packs.
That said, this did just give me an idea to add config settings for customizing the bar fill gradient (I.e. you can change it from Green-Yellow-Red to whatever you want). I am in the middle of a big update for another of my mods, Arsenal, so I'm unsure of when I can get around to this.
I don't think I'd be able to make custom bar styles work, though, as I don't know how to go about making a system where players can input their own custom files/textures. You can, however, use the config to choose from the mod's 5 bar styles at will (Though they are for the most part just recolors).

does downloading new boss bar textures from the terraria workshop (like a golden boss bar replacement) change the look of the default style? Are the chip effects compatible with colour replacements?

@PoshCoder, I happened to be doing a testing playthrough with Calamity active and experienced the same problem (Specifically, upon killing Ravager) you described a while ago.
I was not aware that UI was permanently disabled until you force-closed the game, I had assumed it was only off while a problematic boss was alive (That's what used to happen with Golem and LC). A patch fixing this has just been released.
In retrospect, sorry for the misunderstanding. Had I known the issue was persistent like that I would've looked into it much sooner.

@PoshCoder, yeah the mod doesn't have built-in compatibility with other mods; what you describe appears to be the result of that. In the past there was a similar issue with Golem and the Lunatic Cultist and I had to hardcode in some extra logic for them to keep them from breaking the HUD.
Chances are there's a Calamity boss(es) that does some things this mod isn't expecting, causing it to freak out (With Golem and LC it was because they have states in which they're invulnerable). Calamity has its own custom boss bar so I'm not really concerned with adding compatibility with it myself. In the unlikely event the devs do want compatibility, this mod has Calls that make that possible.

@maxxy, yeah this mod doesn't have any built-in compatibility with other mods, so some will behave oddly or not at all due to some defensive programming (Which prevents worse bugs) in this mod and anything unconventional modded bosses might due that this boss bar can't handle.

I don't have any intention to add compatibility, this is a small project and cross-mod is a generally complicated matter that just isn't worth the time and effort for me.

If you encounter boss fights where the boss bar doesn't work, you're better off using the vanilla bar (Or that mod's custom bar if it has one) for that fight. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Same here, he's a very talented modder and people should recognize all of his addons! All of his mods are crazy good. This is better than the other long-time-used Boss Health Bar mod! (in my opinion)
