Yes, it was based on that exact factory and its rail yards though it isn't by any means exact, in the GSM mission pack this was expanded into it's listed as "Stalingrad" and the equipment used is from that time period as much as possible.

I am guessing that this mission is referring to the winter of Dec 1942 - Early 1943, like during the winter at Stalingrad?

Step 1 find where your downloaded mods are stored.
Step 2 cilck on this mod then left click properties
Step 3 open mod.info (open it with notepad)
Step 4 change the MinGameVersion to this "3.115" and the MaxGamVersion to this MaxGameVersion "3.262.1"
Step 5 click save
Step 6 close it
Step 7 start your game up and see if it worked

To play this map open the ".\Steam\SteamApps\common\Men of War Assault Squad 2\mods\tractor factory defense\" folder and edit the mod.info file with notepad or other text editor.

Replace MinGameVersion & MaxGameVersion to 3.262 or higher (if game will ever get new updates).

I strongly recommend playing the updated version available as part of my pack:

It has some reworked attackers, enemy aircraft, purchasable tank crew, an improved resupply script, corrected skins for all friendly units, much improved wreckage cleanup, more enemy pathfinding routes, more fleshed out win/fail outros, a shiny new loading screen and some map tweaks. Plus a bunch of other missions.
If you really want to play this non-GSM version, I have uploaded a version with an updated mod.info to allow it to be activated on newer patches. I can't say how well this version will actually run anymore since changes to the game engine since this was made so it may be prone to crashes.

Yeah, this mission is extremely outdated. When it was made the game seemed to be able to handle it no problem. The updated/reworked version for GSM has it on x2.

I use to get the rare - invalid read location crash - (out of memory) playing this mod
then I eventually discovered you set entity manager at x5 ! ! ! ! !
No wonder it kept crashing after a while because too many dead entities and stuff left on map.
I reduced entity manager down to x1 and no crashes anymore.

any tips anyone on winning this map? like where to start the defence? at the top of the map i seem to get over run with inf people running out of ammo

A very nicely laid out map. The group I play MoWAS2 with hasn't been able to finish the mission due to bog down at the 30min mark. We tank trapped the entire front of the map and had more tank traps behind our frontline. This seemed to cause pathing issues and the AI just stopped moving until we accidently blew a hole in our own defenses. One of them was able to beat it in SP, though.

I've uploaded the latest version to my dropbox as a backup. If you're trying to play with friends and getting errors when connecting, try downloading that and installing it manually to your mods folder. It's also 100% to be the most recent version.

I think you removed the left flank attack by German tanks at rear of map ?
I noticed it did not happen on this new version the 3 times I played it.
That enemy flank attack was a good distraction tactic.
Now, with this new version, I had time & saw why my front line was smashed;
by the Hummels :o)

I always play this by trying to hold back the Germans at top of / far end of the map with big defence line of mines, 4 or 5 tanks, and men, mostly the "Infantry Squad" that has the mines.

An improvement for this map would be to make clearer middle paths, for all re-enforcements to get to their destination. Very often the 2 or 3 mortars mortars I order, and some tanks cannot move because they get caught or blocked by narrow paths or objects. This can then block some squads of men I order.

Anyway, the invalid read location error is indeed just because the game runs out of memory from too many objects on the map adding up (Wrecks, dropped helmets/weapons, bodies, scorch marks etc.), and chokes on random bits of code/script and there isn't a lot I can do about it I don't think.

Cannot finish this mission. Same "Invalid Read Location" / out of memory type crash everytime in last minutes after 1 hour of battle.
Will try after new coming AS2 patch or have to wait for 64-bit memory allocation for AS2.
Maybe too many dead or damaged tanks being left on map ?
The medics do work now with your updated version,
but battle is to heavy to use them much.
This seems well balanced mission. I played on normal difficulty.
Lol - I often lose where my mouse cursor is, because of the snow flakes;
I have to pause the game and move it around to find it. :o)

After looking at the mow workshop menu it said that tractor factory was updated 28th aug. So I've unsubscribed in mow, and on steam. Re-subscribed. started up the game and now says last updated 9th sep. German soldiers are now gone, t-34 no long spawns at mouse click. Only change I haven't seen push through is the map name plus historical date and location when on the loading screen. Maybe mow has issues updating workshop items? rather than being a steam issue.

Just did a quick 20min playthrough and the reinforcement tickets are working as intended, and so are medics. The new update seems to have pushed that through for me. The loading screen [i57.tinypic.com] doesnt show map name location + date. Sounds like you could be right about steam workshop messing things up.

I honestly don't know what's going on there. That's one of the things that was introduced in the patch which fixed medics and the victory conditions, and I fixed in the last patches. Can you try loading up the mission in singleplayer and seeing if the loading screen shows the map name, location and date?
It seems like it might be giving you versions one or two behind the latest for some reason. I tried backing up my local copy and subscribing to the mod myself and it was the correct version without those paratroopers, so I can only assume the workshop itself is doing something broken?

Played the new update and the ZiS trucks are fixed (yay!), seem to be able to medic units now too, not sure why I couldnt before. Have only tested this in the first minutes of the battle though. Was trying to medic all infantry before but they were always being insta-killed. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Will have to test this throughout the whole mission later.
New patch seems to have introduced this [i59.tinypic.com] though...
Tried on all difficulties, and restarted the game + reactivated the mod in options menu. But enemy paras always spawn there at the start of the mission.

Fixed the weird stuff with the ZiS trucks spawning in the wrong places/teleporting/destroying innocent mortars and related issues.
Medics and reinforcement points have worked whenever I've tested the map (In the editor, online MP and singleplayer on several difficulties) so I'm not sure what's going on there? Were you trying to medic vehicle/gun crews?

@ 26th Aug update. Continuous income still not working "You should now recieve ticking reinforcement points once the enemy attack begins!" Tried solo + coop mp and neither provided more points. Really adds to the challenge but as infantry (as far as ive seen) cannot be revived using the medic (all infantry is insta-killed) it becomes brutal to the point where you have no inf left.
Using latest stable mow:as2 version, and only the tractor factory mod enabled in-game.

Also found a bug where the ZiS ammo truck does not come off of the map. After being called in and the coundown has already ended, it bizarrley spawns on top of mortar emplacements as soon as the sandbag reinforcement button is clicked. Managed to replicate this in two seperate games insta-killing the mortar crew. One of the times the ZiS truck was AI manned and could not be controlled.

No im pretty sure i didnt have everything stays mod when i was playing this, neither did my friend, so not sure whats going on. As for 1 enemy gettingt o our spawn, i actually had 2 men that i had accidentally left at the hq, and i used them to see if they could see any german troops around and nothing. I would definately say to increase the amount of enemies needing to be near to cap the HQ position.

I like this mission alot. It has true desperate feeling of Stalingrad tractor factory
with all those machine tools in the big sheds, etc.
Unfortunately I keep getting near the end "Invalid Read Location" and the game crashes.

I only have small gui type mods loaded.
This is the only mod my computer gets this error crash with.
It is very rare for my computer ( see on my profile ) to get crashes on AS2.

Are you sure an enemy soldier hadn't managed to sneak through your lines to the HQ building beside where units spawn in? I should probably set it so that there has to be maybe 10 enemy units at the HQ to trigger a game over.
I'll see about putting together an autoresupply script.
It wasn't made with the everything stays mod, but if you are using it then it might cause some slowdown as the battle progresses but there's not much I can do about that, it's just the nature of that mod - on larger coop missions it tends to overload after a lot of fighting if your computer isn't good enough.

Auto resupply would be a massive plus for this mission because the map is to busy to have to micro reload individual soldiers. Plus where are u meant to defend because my friend and I had pulled back across the river then withdrawn from the trenches into the buildings just behind and as the germans were massing the message popped up that we had lost control of our HQ but we had hardly retreated. Confusing!!!!!!!! Also is this mod made with everything stays incorporated becauase in MP most peoples machines cant handle this and u get crashes which is a shame. (Lagged out i meant).

Did a full size playtest with 7 other players and discovered a bunch of issues that it was hard to know were issues if you hadn't made the mission :P Check the changelog for details

Wish I had thought about those mods and if it was messing with your map or not, a bit sooner. *sigh* I apologize for this. But I sure a spork was determined to find out the issue, because, even though it is tough as spork, it was still fun trying to do it with just support and armor units. :) I just wanted more infantry to mess with as well. :D

I finally figured out what was messing with it after dinking around with the mods I have installed. Your map will not work with the Panzer mod. BM Mod V1 and Anything Stays Permanently works with it just fine, but something in the Panzer mod "breaks" the infantry on your map, locking them to that one spot. I disabled all three, Panzer mod, BM Mod V1 and Anything Stays Permanently and ran the map. Infantry worked fine. I fired up just the Panzer Mod and they "locked" at spawn. I tested each mod seperately, and infantry worked fine with just BM Mod V1 and Anything Stays Permanently. I just have those 2 active now, and infantry works fine. It's Panzer mod that breaks them.
