Assemblies Trait

Very nice work! However, I can't help but feel that some of these assemblies need a bit of rebalancing. For one, why would you ever want to turn a perfectly good .44 Hunting Rifle into a Toxin Rifle (possibly one of the worst exotics in the game)? By contrast, the CRI Blaster being a level 1 assembly = getting a powerful, ammo-independent endgame pistol on Callisto or guaranteed on Europa 1. It definitely makes Sharpshooter Technician runs more rewarding, since that build has always felt very dependent on finding a good exotic pistol drop early on.

Sadly, yes. This is not an ideal solution but I have no alternative at the moment (modding is quite restricted)

Does that mean that if my available skill selection number is already at 8 then Assembly will not actually be available?

Hi @emirfassad. You must select the trait on level up, and then a new skill will appear in your skill list. When you use this active skill, you’ll get a list of available transformations.

I cannot figure out how to invoke this Trait. In four different games I have created a .762 sidearm, added a Power upgrade, then added an Accuracy upgrade yet the weapon is not converted into a CRI Blaster.
I have tried using a Multitool while armed with the weapon.
I have tried dripping the weapon then picking it up.
I have tried upgrading the weapon both before and after claiming the Trait.

Just how do I invoke the Assembler trait?

Thanks!
Yeah, that's a challenge.

Sorry, that was a typo: common weapons have yellow icons. (Unique weapons have green icons).
Naming the weapons according to these colors may be unclear but the trait description’s space is tight. I’ll check if I can find a better way of communicating.

Yeah, I know about them, I just got super confused with the terminology and the abbreviations.
Thanks for the explanation.

Why the common weapons are called "yellow" if they have green color, though?
I can't find any example of them being called yellow in the wiki, and also the yellow color means rare items in pretty much every other game.

Yellow weapon means a weapon that has a green icon when on the ground (they are also called "common weapons"). Most weapons are yellow (9mm SMG, hunter rifle, etc.). Some weapons, like the .44 long revolver, have a red icon when on the ground (they are also called "rare weapons"). You can check the color of every weapons here: https://jupiterhell.fandom.com/wiki/Weapons .
The "O" mod pack is the "Onyx" mod pack that can be applied to an armor to make it indestructible. The "N" mod pack is the "Nano" mod pack that can be applied to a weapon to make it not use ammo when reloaded. These two packs exist in the vanilla game but are very rare. Again, the wiki can tell you more about them.

Sorry, but what does "yellow weapon", "red weapon" and "O or N mod pack" mean?

@TheSpectacularBatman: many thanks! I’ll add that to my list of ideas to explore with my next mods :) It’s technically feasible
@StrongDan: thanks! I have no idea whether Epyon (the lead dev) is considering adding assemblies in Jupiter Hell…

You're doing awesome work, mate!

I wonder if you might consider doing a mod that lets you take the ammo from weapons on the ground like in DoomRL? Big pet peeve of mine that they took this feature out.

Either way, thanks for doing this, very cool mod. :)

Great mod! I hope assemblies are added back in a later patch... but this will do!
Stargoat 4. aug. 2023 kl. 12:46
Good to hear :). I agree re: blaster, it's a better perk anyway!

Helmet and armor bug is fixed. For the Blaster, I consider it works as intended: even the text warns the user it creates a CRI Blaster.
Une poule géante (& son dragon)  [ophavsmand] 4. aug. 2023 kl. 4:49
There is currently a bug with helmet and armor recipes I’ll fix tonight. I’ll investigate the blaster bug, but yes, it’s probably for that reason.
Stargoat 4. aug. 2023 kl. 2:48
I also built a Blaster out of an MDF 7.62 Sidearm, but the manufacturer perk didn't carry over. Is this because Blasters always come with the CRI manufacturer perk?
Stargoat 4. aug. 2023 kl. 2:46
I applied P, B and A mods to Marine armour, but the Duramesh assembly didn't work

I did apply the P mod last though - does the order matter or is it a bug?

Thanks! I tried to make it interesting. I’m open to any suggestion about balance!

I love this idea; Assemblies were my favourite part of DoomRL, and this also gives use to relics you might just drop, and a good reason to go for the Frozen Heart.
