Doesn't seem to work with SPINTERMISSION. Works ingame, but in the intermission screens, it shows some error text in place of a stage name.

Uh, Aquifer isn't a synonym, it's its own thing. It quite literally refers to a cave that contains water.
And the game does that sometimes, like Mausoleum and Necropolis, both being very specific and somewhat fancy.
The one word that is probably a bit too synonymy is "Ardent" (Meaning burning or glowing) but Ardent Attic has such a nice ring to it so I had to x)

And that reason can't be used for an attic? I mean newsflash, there isn't actually a trapdoor in Isaac's room that leads to the basement in the first place. I'm pretty sure he can imagine literally anything as a stage.
