for anyone who uses EUI, don't use this mod, it conflicts with it and glitches the tooltip bar
anothernick1996 13. mar. 2020 kl. 18:38
Is the food from writers for England a reference to Johnathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" or am I overthinking this?
Verily 4. okt. 2019 kl. 15:32
A reason to play default Germany and not just keep downloading mods. I like it.
Anotzibartschad 11. dec. 2018 kl. 5:18
@framedarchitechture
I've decided to run a game with IGE to see if germany had some sort of issue with it's traits.
It does. Germany doesn't work, atleast for me. No matter how much happiness I gave myself, neither did I gain more culture during war nor did I gain more production. Please fix this.
Chrissant 13. dec. 2017 kl. 22:45
Traits are modded via xml. You can learn how each trait and the according values are added by looking at base game xml files. It's pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.
A Flying Brick 18. aug. 2017 kl. 7:51
How did you make this mod. I've looked up every tutorial on moding traits, but I can't find anything.
Bertdog211 23. juni 2017 kl. 7:23
The America trait is very nice
gibsonlespaul638 10. sep. 2015 kl. 16:09
I love most of your stuff. Can I ask why you don't like Japan's vanilla unique trait, Bushido?
chuckles9999 23. juli 2015 kl. 13:54
Can someone better explain Carthages' unique trait, I don't seem to be gaining any culture from resource trading
MrC1065 3. juni 2015 kl. 21:25
@framedarchitecture Well I'll just run a few test games and see why Germany has that issue.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 3. juni 2015 kl. 21:21
@Talpss177 I am not responding to your specific complaint, just a general comment about my plans for updating the mod. As far as I know the traits work exactly as I describe above.
MrC1065 3. juni 2015 kl. 18:40
@framedarchitecture So I'd have to manually make it so that Bismarck isn't screwed over? No wonder he always got conquered, I just thought Germany was in a terrible position...

I don't remember this being an issue in your Accurate Europe map, are his policy requirements fixed to that map? I remember him getting Liberty and Republic (I think) right off the bat in that scenario.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 3. juni 2015 kl. 18:36
@Talpss177 I have several fixes for this mod, including Germany, but it will be a month or so before I have them available.
MrC1065 3. juni 2015 kl. 18:12
I don't know why, but for some reason, whenever I play as Germany in a world map with this mod on, the culture costs for him go up a level from the beginning (on Epic speed, instead of it costing 35 culture for his first policy, it will cost 50 points, then it will cost him 250 for his next policy). Does this mod make Germany's policies harder to achieve?
Tutter10 28. feb. 2015 kl. 4:51
Thank you very much for this. Some of my favourites are The Ottomans, Brazil, England, Germany and Songhai.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 31. jan. 2015 kl. 15:10
@josematamoros The Askia trait bonus is not reported in the Top Panel, but it is definitely active. You can see it at work if you just check the math on the science meter.
NocturnalEye 15. jan. 2015 kl. 8:10
no. this is something that I was never able to wrap my brain around. this is just the area where I finally talked about it. it's nothing against you
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 14. jan. 2015 kl. 22:37
@NocturnalEye Is your comment intended to insult my intelligence or this particular mod? Either way it's rather rude ....
NocturnalEye 14. jan. 2015 kl. 22:27
I still find it laughable at how people still associate boudicca and andraste. andraste was not a war goddess (hares are more accurate, as andraste was a goddess of the moon, divination and rabbit magic, which would make her more associated with the druids, if anything)
cariari 9. dec. 2014 kl. 6:46
I was playing as Askia, made a whole early game focussing on faith so I could rip the benefits once I discover Education, but the trait didn't kick in :(
Strat 28. nov. 2014 kl. 10:16
Why can't people understand America's awesomeness when it comes to war. The US should get a bonus to production at war. Like 2x the amount, it might sound alot but it could have an affect in and after the Industrial Era. Take them out early, and don't have powerhouse in your backdoor. It is a suggestion, but it might be overpowerd, like maybe for a couple of turns? Your mod, you decide.
KLM1980 30. sep. 2014 kl. 5:41
I have a suggestion : for Byzantine trait you could removing the extra trait of faith...
Instead Byzantines could have the shrine/autel producing one more point of faith and one extra point of culture and one extra gold
harry 27. sep. 2014 kl. 2:03
Is there a direct download as it doesnt appear in mods when i go on to it
TRusheeRush 22. sep. 2014 kl. 10:43
Ahhh that explains things. Thank you.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 22. sep. 2014 kl. 5:05
@TRusheeRush Bismarck's trait takes a snapshot of happiness whenever changing from peace to war (or vice versa) and that snapshot serves as the bonus until the next war event. This is a very powerful trait but only if war or peace is declared when you have maxed your current happiness.
TRusheeRush 19. sep. 2014 kl. 13:17
I don't think that Bismarck's peacetime Realpolitik is functional, unless I am misunderstanding how it works. I'm not getting any extra production as my happiness increases.
Nicecream 1. sep. 2014 kl. 11:16
I love this, but it seems that america's bonus still doesn't measure up to the others, despite american exceptionalism in real life.
calcul8or 25. aug. 2014 kl. 21:10
Love the creative ideas! Great job.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 25. aug. 2014 kl. 17:24
@Artemicion Of course I make my mods to my tastes, but I will try to answer your question. Most of the traits that I replace or revise I consider "Bad" ... i.e not useful globally, or not particularly relevent to a particular leader's personality. In the case of Gandhi, I actually like the original trait, but find it very limiting, particularly on large maps. I think the revised trait is globally useful in many situations and in all map types. It also reflects Gandhi's commitment to peace and the long tradition of religious innovation of India. Finally, India has also traditionally been one fo the largest civilizational areas of the world, so Wide seems appropriate play option.
Artemicion 25. aug. 2014 kl. 17:04
Does Ghandis ability actually work that well? It seems really counter-intuitive, with camps and pastures not giving food. Plus it is such a huge change in terms of strategy as Ghandis original ability favoured small empires with huge cities whereas this very much favours large empires with small cities. I suppose the point was to greatly alter how the civ works, but still.
niel2760 25. aug. 2014 kl. 16:14
You're right, of course. After I fnished posting I reread it and noticed that it did not say caravan; I was just hoping it did.
Bambino 24. aug. 2014 kl. 9:31
Shouldn't bismarck's ability be flipped?
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 23. aug. 2014 kl. 14:37
@niel2760 Well its actually a Caravansary (a building). If you are playing under Vanilla or GnK then the free building is a Mint.
niel2760 23. aug. 2014 kl. 12:18
I didn't get a free caravan for a landlocked city from Askia
sleepingtwilight 23. aug. 2014 kl. 11:49
Perhaps you could rename the Hellenic General to Diadochi?
Walker 22. aug. 2014 kl. 5:57
Might I suggest a name change for the Hellenic General? Historically, Strategos would be more accurate.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 21. aug. 2014 kl. 7:46
@Hiram There are some supporting functions in UA_Functions.lua. It maybe easiest to just include that file with your new trait. Also, iirc, that trait requires Serializer.lua (an include to UA_Functions.lua)
Hiram 21. aug. 2014 kl. 5:59
Me again! Regarding using some of your stuff here, how would I go about isolating the code relevant for Boudicca's trait? Do I just need the Lua and SQL in her folder or are there things I need in the general files? I'm thinking of giving Boudicca your trait in an upcoming update to my Celtic Civs pack.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 19. aug. 2014 kl. 7:31
@Sev Thanks for the report! I'll take a look at the script for that trait.
Aeva 19. aug. 2014 kl. 3:17
Liking what I've played so far of this mod, but I've run into an error with the ahimsa Gandhi trait. After declaring war, I did not lost the 14 happiness it was generating at the time. Furthermore, the happiness bonus then randomly increased to 64 some time after making peace, around when I'd settled an 8th city. I took a screencap, but other than that I wasn't entirely sure when the happiness changed, I just hadn't noticed up until that point. Keep up the good work.
williamsun1990 18. aug. 2014 kl. 16:02
Maybe it's better to describe the UA of Ottoman as giving a boost on your culture and golden age points. Before I suppose it will act as in the golden age, muplying the input a certain factor.
adeelfaqih 18. aug. 2014 kl. 10:10
Tried everything, dont know why aztecs cant enslave! Have anyone played with aztecs and enslaved barbarien units? With a Jaguar?
3wet6r 17. aug. 2014 kl. 21:54
Could you please try to change the Dutches ability?
williamsun1990 17. aug. 2014 kl. 18:47
Sorry for bothering you... I have tried opener and square button and also tried to see whether you add culture without changing the panel in IGE.(I just want to see how powerful the UA is, to see whether it give bonus based on the policy tree or each policy.) But I really haven't tried giving myself a lot of culture to get the bonus. Thank you for your answering.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 17. aug. 2014 kl. 16:12
@denpat1 Yes, what you ask for is possible, but not within the scope of this mod. You can assign any of these traits to other base game leaders or modded leaders via updates to the Leader_Traits table.
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 17. aug. 2014 kl. 16:04
@williamsun1990 The Ottoman Trait effect does indeed work, but not for the branch opener or closer. Only by adopting square button policies will you see this effect. For this reason the buff is quite large. Finally the IGE policies cheat screen will mostly likely NOT proc this effect. If you want to use IGE cheat to see this effect, give yourself a lot of culture and then adopt the policies. As always, best to try out the mod a bit before reporting "errors". Best, FA
williamsun1990 17. aug. 2014 kl. 15:41
Thank you for your reply. I only notices the number of gold on the panel.

This time I tried Ottoman, it doesn't work... I used IGE to open the policies in Piety and Aesthetics.
Inoksvere 16. aug. 2014 kl. 23:34
This sounds like a great 'fix' for some of the nations that have shitty traits.

Can't wait to try this out. Thanks for your work! :)
framedarchitecture  [ophavsmand] 16. aug. 2014 kl. 19:26
@ComradeGeneral No fix necessary; Aztec melee and gun units can enslave barbs.
Deep Sea 16. aug. 2014 kl. 18:17
The Aztecs won't enslave barbarians. Will you fix that?
