is it possible to like have the romans start to show like Barbarian soldiers within the ranks? Similar to vanilla units, where like when deciding to replenish your forces from a defeated Germanic force there is a visible model swap in like say Roman Cohorts etc. Would be definitely immersion +++

Yeah I'm not sure what's happening with me, but I redownoaded all 4 parts several times now and I still have 1. Gray shields on several infantry units (Cornuti and Legio I can remember offhand) and 2. Catafractarii with invisible torsos on many models.

Pinkhead Larry: no, but Im thinking about doing some kind of overhaul mod, perhaps an age of Arthur overhaul for the aoc campaign, or an 7th century overhaul for main campaign and build something similar to what the Beginning of an End team wanted to build

I'm only using your reskin mods, and I did move this to the top of the load order, but it happens even when the 4 Dux Bellorum mods are my only loaded mods. I also noticed the Catafractarii models have invisible torsos. I'll try getting an actual mod manager instead of the launcher.

Many of the infantry units don't have shield textures, their shields are beaten-on gray fields, even though their unit card certainly shows a shield texture. I've tried different load orders but Cornuti Seniores and a few other units still have gray shields. Is this intended?

Stpkohn: sure, but in iconohraphy we see that most Roman soldiers were clean shaven. Will fix cohors once I update Dux, will be soon!

Would it be possible to add more face variety to the roman units like beards and such? Also I know most people don't use the unit past turn 10 but Id love to see scabbards added to the cohors unit

just wanted to say i really love your mod the new skins look amazing and way more polished now but i did notice that most roman units look kinda identical now like clones , back in earlier versions each solider had unique features and that felt way more realistic and immersive would love to see that variety come back if possible

Okay, well, actually the models for the generals are still unchanged. I no longer have the Roman successor leader variety mod, so I'm at a loss for what could be causing it.

Unit Cards for ERE Generals/Admirals appear correctly, but the actual models used for them on the campaign and battle map both are unchanged. Any idea what could be causing this? I have no other mods that effect ERE/WRE Generals/Admirals models, but do have the older "Roman successor and faction leader variety reskin" mod, and Sebidee's unlimited governors and lowered politics cost mods, the only other things which effect something remotely related. If these conflict - can it be solved with a load order change, or are they not compatible?

In the 4th century the Roman army's eastern and western contigent weren't notably different in terms of gear, dress and tactics. Purple is a regal color and were mainly worn by the emperor, nobles and high ranking military officials. This was because purple was an extremely expensive color to make, it was produced from shell glands which was very labour intensive and time consuming to extract, ferment, and sun dry. The predominant color of dresses and tunics in the late Roman army would be red, both for western and easter Rome. Red was a more readily available color and lended itself well for tunics that were meant for heavy labour around camp or battle duties.

The unit reskins are amazing. But could you make a version that doesnt reskin generals, factionleaders and their portraits? I dont want it to look out of place compared with the vanilla factions.

Enjoy the Game: It's a problem on part of the game's optimization, here is fix:
1. go to task manager
2. click details
3. find the Attila process and right click it
4. click set affinity
5. uncheck one of the processors, any works
6. now the game lag is probably improved.

i just wanted to say your recent work really brought the game back to life it looks fantastic and super polished
but alot of soldiers now look kind copy paste like they are all clones :steambored:
back in the earlier versions of the mod each solider felt more unique like youd see variety from one to the next which added a lot of realism
still mad respect for thr effort you are putting you have clearlly got skills just hoping for a bit more diversity in the future updates :steamthumbsup:

I appreciate that you like the old versions, the love they get is nice. Any updates in future for my mods will be leaning in to making them more historical and realistic. This is sort of my project right now, working on historical evidence to maximize the visuals. My goal is that my mods will be the most accurate mods for any game covering the Roman iron age, so what you see is as close as possible to reality.

any load order should work, but start by excluding other active mods first to ascertain which might be the problem.

A little suggestions. Can you add more elite Palatina units to the mod to give it a more diverse flavour. Like the Iovi and Octavani for example, or two to three more Auxilia Palatina historical units. Having armies with the same units is boring at times.

Ok, it was because i didn't loaded the Restitutor romanum pack on the bottom of the load order, now the generals on the campaign are looking good. Even if the card of the generals, in the army window are still looking a bit special, only with roman general. But if it's normal it's ok.

On the lag optimization problem, i unchecked one of the processor, it works really good now, thank you for the tip.

Finally, i got this loard order with your mods, is this good ? I found one load order on the restitutor romanum pack, but i don't know if the Slavic, Nomad and others pack order are important in the load order ?

if youre experiencing other models than mine in game it's because of another mod that is interfering. the cards are what they are.

The lag is an optimization problem for Attila my advice is the following.
1. go to task manager
2. click details
3. find the Attila process and right click it
4. click set affinity
5. uncheck one of the processors, any works
6. now the game lag is probably improved.

Hello ! I was trying to play with WRE but mly generals have stretched out portraits and my emperors and generelas doesnt look like the images mod, it's the old models, except in the portrait army, but they are stretched out. Another thing is the performance, i got major freeze every 10 sec but i'm on low resolution and have a 12go RTX Card and a 32go Ram AMD processor. Is it juste me or is there a generel performance issue ? Nonetheless thank you for your work, it's amazing and détailed !

Oh, lol,sorry. I had the older Dux file in the game. I changed and noticed the difference in detail. There is with your actually mod a huge better resolution of all assets. But a very slightly shield variation for cornuti ,red and white shields, and legio comitatenses would be nice. But to be true, your mod is top tier.

Helghan, this seems like some other mod. Mine only has one shield variation due to that they are custom made by a modeller and supposed to look uniform. The Roman Army had quite strict codes and regulations when it came to standardization and you wouldnt see too much variation on the battlefield on a unit to unit basis. Thus, cornuti seniores gets a shield as designated by the notitia dignitatum.

I think there is a bug with the unit variation. Example: There are 3-4 shield variants for cornuti seniores. Now they spawn all with the same red white shield, no white red and the red yellow. Armor is changed too, Before the may update, the variation in armor and especially the shields were near perfection. There is something weird now. I checked the files with pfm but cant find a solution. can you check it? thanks. beside that, i really like your mod.
