I've only just gotten back into making games with gamemaker and was looking for a nice, clean way to do this - I love your method! Thank you for putting together a downloadable example so people can see what the end result *should* look like as well as posting a tutorial, it's really appreciated. :D

Okay... Ima pay my respects to the Author.. Great show of mini map usage.
As for people like Infamous.. Why are you on to judge a simple Example.. its not a game, its a demostration of a minimap.. showing your player, and the enemies screen on a small map.. No one asked you to complain how its done, Theres no meaning to this other then the mini map.. Graphical and gameplay is not the tention here. Its the minimap..

Please people.. A guy who is trying to help people learn and simplify things does not need to be treated baddly cause you dont like it , or you cant do it or understand it..
