Shame discontinued. The most useful thing was the " If you don't type anything, the point will still be named "Point <Index>: <currentDateTime>"." feature.....

Do you have any other mods installed that have influence on the map or map tools?

I couldn't get this to work either. nor I was able to make the enhanced eraser work for me. by the way what are those extra buttons on your map tools? another mod of your own? T

Sorry to hear that. I don't know what it is but the game seems to not load it correctly sometimes. Since there was no uboat update, I can't quite point out what the issue is

I could only get this to work by putting it at the top of my mod list and even then it would stop working again mid-game.

Hast du irgendeine andere Mod installiert in der Zeit?
Da kein U-Boat update kam denke ich nicht dass es an der Mod liegt. Evtl mal den Cache löschen.

Huhuu bis gestern funktionierte die Mod einwandfrei. Seit gestern wenn ich auf das market Symbole klicke passiert nichts mehr. Ich kann kein Marker auf der Karte setzen, geschweige den was schreiben. Hab nach mehreren versuchen gestern, das Spiel heute komplett deinstalliert und neu installiert. Wenn ich als einzigste Mod den Named Marker nutze hab ich genau das selbe Problem wie oben beschrieben.

Hat jemand eine Lösung das ich die Mod wieder nutzen kann?

It would be nice if you could add a shortcut to start and stop the writing feature. Too many of my waypoints are called "waas", "ssssd", "aw" and so on.

@FSVRandy597 Thanks for the hint :) I don't know whats happening there. I noticed that during development 1-2 times. However, there were no errors or logs that pointed to a bug in the mod. I guess the game is just inconsistant some times

This is in addition and an update to my Comment below this one.
This was a one-time event. After I logged out of UBOAT and logged back in again, everything in Named Map Markers worked as it should.
So, if you use your space bar or type letters in your marker window and the keystrokes go to the window of the marker AND perform their keyboard shortcut functions in UBOAT, don't panic. Just restart UBOAT. It worked for me.

Something just changed yesterday, 3.9.2023. When I first started using this mod, when you brought up the pin to make a mark, the focus of the keyboard went to typing in the window for your marker. Today, when I hit the space bar to create a blank space between words, or to create a pin mark with no text at all, hitting the spacebar now takes the keyboard focus back to the game.. it pauses the game and anything thing you type after that executes it's keyboard shortcut in UBOAT.
The other thing I've noticed is that when you just click to place a marker, expecting the date and time to go with it, mine is now frozen at, "9/9/1939 11:14:53PM"
Any recommendations to fix this and has anyone else reported a problem like these?

Beim Named Map Points hab ichs wohl etwas übertrieben. Bin im Spiel jetzt 1941 und kann kaum mehr etwas auf der Karte erkennen vor lauter Text ;-)

drum die Frage:
- kann der Text beim herauszoomen auch kleiner werden oder evtl ganz verschwinden und z.B. nur die Punkte bleiben? wenn man rauszoomt braucht man ja nicht alle Details sehen. Beim Reinzoomen dann aber wieder Details sichtbar
- falls erstes nicht geht, wäre ein automatisches Hochnummerieren möglich? statt "Punkt 1", "Punkt 2" einfach "1" bis "n". Evtl über CTRL oder CTRL+P wie bei Deiner anderen Mod?

Neustart hilft tatsächlich. Kommt einem bekannt vor ;) Manchmal hat Eraser Enhanced keine Lust zu erasen, sowie Named Map Point gelegentlich keine Texte mag. Ich glaube das passiert abwechselnd ^^ Eines von beiden ging bis jetzt immer und gerade eben haben beide gemeinsam funktioniert. Einfach neustarten wenn man die Werzeuge braucht und sie gerade nicht so wollen. Das hilft :)

Manchmal gibt es das Problem, da hilft ein einfacher Neustart des Spiels meistens. Kann den Fehler aber nicht zuverlässig reproduzieren, was das fixen schwer macht :/

Kann keinen Punkt setzten und es gibt keinen Kasten einen Text einzugeben. Wenn eine Linie gezogen wurde heben die Endpunkte der Linie von der Map ab, sobald man sich mit WASD bewegt. Muss man eine Reihenfolge in der Modliste beachten?

with
.Append(gametime.CurrentDateTime.Hour).Append(":").Append(gametime.CurrentDateTime.Minute).Append(":").Append(gametime.CurrentDateTime.Second)

Do you now if there is an alternative to "CurrentDateTime" to have just the time, without the date?

By the way, changing .cs file works perfectly in your Eraser Enhanced mod - which, incidentally, doesn't have Bundles.

Default game datasheets you're right, they're rarely savegame compatibile. I guess it has to do with the game - or a mod - reloading then at each save or just once at the start of a new career.

Yep I saw that thanks! But it doesn't seem to work because - I think - there is data also in the "Bundles" subfolder that I guess causes incompatibility issues. I don't see that subfolder in most other mods, and in those cases just editing the .cs works. Personally I have no idea what it is though :) not a unity modder myself.

To your other point, if you want I'm pretty sure you can add customized datasheets maintaining save game compatibility: check out sq_paradox's mods for example, like auto sub lights. He often puts some customization options in a datasheet and it keeps save game compatibility.

You can change it in MapChartingUI_Update_Points_Tool_Patch.cs
there is a line:
mapPointUI.Name = arg + arg2 + num + ": " + gametime.CurrentDateTime.ToString();
That is the default text. I wanted to avoid datasheets as a setting option because I think if you use them it requires a new savegame

If I would like to tinker with the default text, I see it clearly in the .cs files in the Source folder, but I see also stuff in the Bundles folder that I'm not familiar with.

Is there an easy way to tinker with those?

Typing without seeing of course is weird, but personally i can live with it!

Small suggestion: if the default text were the date and time it would be fantastic! Or even just the time. h, m and secs too if possible.

Ah ok. Good point though.
I haven‘t thought about removing the sextant markings.
I mean after a patrol it’s useful. During a patrol you might delete your last sextant measurement by accident.
Tough one. I don’t really know what’s best.
