Updated: Vanilla apparel draw layers now support multilayered apparel without weird graphics. Vanilla Expanded Framework is no longer required for 1.5 and there are no more unecessary gizmos for mechanitor's headsets.

can you add a mod-setting to remove the Switch gizmo? I play on steamdeck and screen space is limited

The purpose is because RimWorld hat drawing order is messy and there is no way to tell the game "Draw this above hair but under the hat layer". Therefore I created an alter def that you can switch on the go. One def will be drawn under hats, but also under hair, and the other def will be drawn on top of hair, but also on top of hats. Switching costs nothing. It is just an aesthetic thing.

Question, What is the purpose of the apparel_alters defs? I think that may be the cause of the double recipes, and I've been able to patch items directly without them

epic mod man. whenever it is that im doing Virtual Reality (like the mechanitor) im waring my V.R. head-set and it doesn't take up my head like wut?? and so like i often ware a hat like a baseball one atthe same time so that it doesn't get cold, my head i mean

I'm saying you could put the Headsets in the same layer as the Helmets, so they don't stack together. My main combat mechanitor has both an Array Headset and a Mechcommander Helm on right now.

Sadly the way this game works is that coverage and layers are different. If I let mechanitor helmets be only in the headgear layer, the eyes layers would be free to be filled with whatever, including the mechanitor headsets, no matter what they cover.

Mechcommander Helmets use the Headgear layer, but cover the eyes on that layer. Maybe you could move the headsets to Headgear, and keep them covering the Eyes?

whoops, the recipe appearing twice is not, but them appearing twice in the apparel list is kinda unavoidable. I will fix the recipe error

One more thing, the recipe to craft the airwire appears twice, and both seem to have the same apparel piece, and all the mechanitor headsets also appear twice on the apparel list. Is this intended?

It is a bug with Vanilla Expanded Framework, but it is harmless. The label in the button works just fine. You can ignore it.

Oh and for this to work you must subscribe to Vanilla Expanded Framework now. If you don't have it then nothing will change.

@holgast """Fixed""" the hair issue. The way rimworld draws hair is all over the place. There is not really a way to make a headgear not delete hair without it doing something else weird.

If I made it so hair is not deleted, then the headsets would need to be either on top of the face or under the hair (no other options available)

If it was on top of the face, then it would also be on top of any hat for some reason, and it would look very dumb and incorrect

If it was under the hair, then you would have big headsets being under thin hair which looks even more dumb

The way I fixed this was to make it so you can decide whether the headsets are drawn {on top of the face} or {normally} using a button when wearing it. This comes at no cost and you can do it as many times as you want. Just switch to the version that fits and looks better.

Slight side effect is that the airset will change colours a bit
