Jasdan 16. dec. 2023 kl. 13:50
Does this have 3D models?

Also for future plan to add hapiness buff 2 things 1 please try to come up with new icon the top of the current one looks good but it looks way to thick to be a Bread ration. 2 just make this recipe:

Empty bowl/carved bowl + pop/beer can, 1/4th bottle of orange soda, Half a bottle of wine, 1/4 bottle any other alcohol(can't make it shots) + 1 portion of Hard Tack = {Hapiness boost Liquid here} Soaked Hard Tack.

Also this one for free Trail Beans: Empty Bowl/carved bowl + Open bean can + Hard Tack + cooked Bacon/slice of ham = Bowl of Trail Beans. Do the same with an empty pot to make a pot of trail Beans.

@Dragontamer997 do yourself a favour Go to your local store Buy Hard Tack & tell me how big it is... Cause where I live that stuffs the size of a 2x1 soda cracker & as thick as a slices of bread what sandwich would you make? A Crustini? Secondly when you add water to Hard Tack its not like re-hydrating food like those self baking buns in Star Wars Ep 8 (amazing as those would be) no when added to water they become slimy goy on the out side with Jaw-braker cores. When added to soup or stew its needed to wait 5mins to let it soften through then cut with a spoon & eaten in place of potatoes

hard crack
Dragontamer997 24. feb. 2023 kl. 19:14
So is there any way to make it so we could slice the hard Tack after its been softened so we can still make sandwiches later in the game?

Grew a relatively small field of corn w/Farmin' Time - 24 furrows worth.

Harvested enough to replant and still had 10 bags of corn flour afterwards.

Converted it all into just shy of 60,000 calories of shelf stable biscuits from one harvest, at the cost of a quarter of a barrel of water.

10/10, would shatter teeth again.

Hey! Quick update, anyone paying attention, making the dough and softening it should give xp, but I was a n00b when I made it so it doesn't - expect the fix tonight or early tomorrow! (It'll be 7 cooking xp for making the dough, 8 if you use the bowl and fork, and 4 cooking xp for softening it)
Pretty sure baking it gives you xp by default but will test it whenever I can!

@KiDD I haven't done it myself, just made yeast loafs and flatbreads but I might try it. Glad you're enjoying the mod!

I love making this IRL. It's really good if your looking for something to snack on and on a diet.

@DoomMarine23 Wow, thank you so much, I really appreciate that. Ya know, I made the mod for myself but threw it out there not knowing if anyone would even try it, I'm glad it's made some people happy.
And yes, if you figure out anything to do with the alcohol and soda, please let me know how you code that. I won't have a few moment to really experiment til next Wednesday I think lol. Plus I have a few other things in mind I wanna try doing first.

An excellent and simple mod. I am curious to see where you go with softening it using alcohols and soda. Perhaps I'll take a look myself and see what I can come up with. Regardless, I absolutely adore what you did here, the game has a real lack of non-perishable foods and so I greatly appreciate this!

@YepThatsMyName Hey! You know what, that's not a bad idea.. I can say from a technical coding standpoint, I'm not quite at a place where I can code that in properly.

I'm working on a few small mods for more quality of life and long term survival stuff, but I like the thought of adding spices or bugs to enhance it. Let me circle back on that one, but it's noted in my to-do!

(Or at least my "to-try"!)

Can you add the ability to add insects to the hard tack?
I once read that apparently people who ate hard tack would often be thankful for insects like weevils in their hard tack since their diet was so horrible.
pgames-food 23. okt. 2022 kl. 20:03
ah ok thanks, yup will do.
(i think in rimworld it is a bit easier as it allows for multiple inputs > multiple outputs in recipes, but am not sure that pz allows multiples out)
BOT [Mr. Krabs]  [ophavsmand] 23. okt. 2022 kl. 19:57
@pgames-food I appreciate the input! I just haven't quite gotten around to testing yet, but I forsee issues with it, as I'd like to maintain keeping the empty alcohol bottle, so I'd like to make it more like an "evolved recipe" type deal. Just don't know how to do that without replacing vanilla items or breaking anything, so for now it's kept simple lol. If you try it out, do let me know how it works!
pgames-food 23. okt. 2022 kl. 19:15
hi nice mod idea :)

i had a thought about your "future plan" section... what if you did it simply using recipes?
(thats what i do a lot of the time in my recycling mod for rimworld) :)

for example, you could have:
HardTack+Soda= perishable happier version (the same as regular soaking in water) but as a new item with 5 happiness (and maybe some water value)

and another recipe to make that version, using HardTack+can of Beer

(it might not be as elegant as using "any" soda or alcohol, but it should work :)
