The old WON version of Half-Life did have menu music, but they removed it from all future releases apart from the PS2 port. You *can* have music playing on the game start but I do believe you have to make it play using your own autoexec.cfg file.

Valde, I don't think Half-Life has music in their main menus, from what I know of. So, I'm not sure that would be a good idea.
