Okay, so this mod removes the very last downsides of dying from the game, making death effectively irrelevant. Good job :steamthumbsdown:

ive tried playing mp and singleplayer with this mod on, but on both my character has no skill points or anything. And it's not like i forgot to turn on the options--i did--it just wont work. May i suggest adding an incompatible mods list or taking a look at the code?

weight gets absolutely f'ed with this mod, just be aware of this.

could you add an option to choose which traits or categories to be randomized, instead of choosing randomly from every category at once?

ex: 1 Combat Trait, 1 Crafting Trait, and 1 Survival Trait
OR select which traits can be randomized/unaffected?

idea: do the same but with items and armor. Did your character really survive a zombie apocalypse for a whole year without any weapons or protection before you started playing as them?

so for some reason, on a basic default start, i have no strength or fitness and like 1 perk, is this how the mod is

This is the exact thing I wanted to make but could have more improvements
What I want : more higher chance for skill level to increase if the character has specific trait (Mechanics more likely get higher mechanic skill level)
And for weapon skills, more chance for easy-to-get blunt weapons skill lv and lower for hard-to-get long blades

@shadowskinC - You do realize there's 2 slots for blank slate exceptions in the options, right? So just set those to strength and fitness and... you're good.

A version to keep strength and fitness from profession/traits perhaps? I mean 0 strength and fitness makes early game a little bit too hard.

Yes, i use some mods that affects skills and traits, but it still happens when i disable every mod except this.

@TheKoris68 I'll look more into this, but in the mean time, do you use any other mods that effect character skills or traits?

@Sourenics When starting a new game, you must select custom sandbox, and then when arriving at the sandbox options you should see a tab that says No More Skilless Characters (see the image above for reference). The starting with zero skills is the going to be because the blank slate option is enabled by default. If you need more info on what all the options do, just hover your mouse over them and you should see a brief description explaining what they do!

How does this work? I started a new game but I had no options to choose. And my character started unskilled.

uhh, nevermind i just realized this mod doesn't even consider skills from mods when randomly picking skills to level them up. Also i have a weird bug, when the blank state is disabled and i have a trait that gives me for example strength +1 instead of having 0/60000 exp in strength i have -66000/60000 for some reason.

Ooooh. I always play with the settings. I am going to bet blank slate was untouched, and therefore enabled. I will pop the server up again and fiddle with that, more than willing to bet that is exactly it however. My bad, thanks.

@Team Moist, I'm glad you're happy with the changes! I'll see about adding those features down the road, but unless there are any glaring issues that come up I'm going to be stepping away from this mod for a bit.

@TheKoris68, is there any particular mods you had in mind?

@Wrath, Did you mess with any of the sandbox settings before you started the game? "Blank slate" is enabled by default and will set all skills/stats to zero before randomizing them. If had turned it off, then I would need more information, I personally haven't experienced what you're describing and this is the first I'm hearing of it happening!

I don't know what caused it. In multiplayer myself and the second player, playing with me created a new character, in a new server for testing mods. These characters had zero stat points in strength and fitness. The other mods I had installed were primarily visual modifications, "no more skilless" being the only one that had an effect on stats/skills.

@random. I'm already very pleased with the addition you made, and it fulfills the requirements for our server restart after the next patch drops, so thank you again. However, if you felt so inclined, we could use another slight modification. If it were possible to add a setting to exempt the strength and fitness skills from the effects of the mod we would be over the moon. Thanks again for adding my first requested feature, I'm going to use your mod on my server regardless, but adding my second request would help to balance out the first. Many thanks!

One note for anyone using the mod to give a constant skill amount-
To give +2 to every skill you must use the following settings:
minimumNumberOfSkills = 27
numberOfSkills = 27
minimumLevel = 3
maxLevels = 3

@Team Moist, Hi there! My other project was giving me something of a headache so I stepped away and was able to get the features you were looking for implemented. I'm going to spend the night doing some more testing to make sure everything is kosher, and I'll probably upload it sometime tomorrow morning!

@Team Moist, Good news and bad news for you! The goods news is I will be happy to add those features, the bad news is it may be a couple weeks before I can start working on it. After just releasing this, I've switched my focus to improving upon another project. But I'll add it to the to-do list for this mod!

The reason being is the way I built it, allowing all 26 skills to be selectable would cause some serious hitching in the form of a near infinite loop (so basically crash the game), which I planned to fix down the road but I wanted to get this mod out there as soon as I was able.

Long story short, I will be adding those features, but it will have to wait until I'm able!

I'm wondering if it would be possible to modify the settings to allow for every one of the skills to be raised by the same amount? I tried the mod and it works as described but the maximum skills that can be raised is 18 and there are 26 skills total. It would be great if this mod allowed you to set every skill at the same base level + whatever your traits add/remove. This would be very helpful for server administrators attempting to create specific scenarios (like I am trying to do right now). If the cap on the number of skills could be raised from 18 to 26 I'd be set! Thanks

@Ryuu, My apologies if I was misleading. As mentioned I'm fairly new to PZ and it's modding community. I wasn't aware that the word "survivor" was strongly associated with NPCs. This is for your player character, not ai controlled characters. I've already updated the title and description to better explain what this mod does. Sorry again!

Make sure *this mod* is under superior survivors. That way it should overwrite anything my mod does.

I would think it should work with anything that doesn't touch your survivors skills/xp.
