I went from 60 to 80-90 on the campaign map and managed to remove the stutters by reducing cpu cores in task manager. Open it up once in game and go to details -> right click the game and reduce cpu cores to 8

Holy F, this actually works. It is such a game changer. Thank you so much!

@Svetabily, when creating this mod, I have already applied the same methodology to battles and found no such redundancies. So in my experience, this approach will not do anything to improve battle performance.
Svetabily 12. jan. 2024 kl. 7:48
and for battle will u make one?
Ferdi 26. juli 2023 kl. 4:51
Work perfectly in latest patch
Spec : Ryzen 3 5300U & 8GB RAM
Morgoth 22. juli 2023 kl. 18:17
its super stuttery still.
Spartan VI 27. juni 2023 kl. 19:03
Nope
Kuroshi 27. juni 2023 kl. 10:34
will this work for Attila as well?
Spartan VI 23. juni 2023 kl. 11:51
FYI CA did not fix this issue in the new R2 patch, so the mod is still necessary to address it.
Otho 3. juni 2023 kl. 8:27
I can never go back without this mod now
Emiya 30. maj 2023 kl. 15:48
From 60 to 70 fps in campaign
bofan 22. maj 2023 kl. 12:37
wow, just wow...
brian.harding59 12. maj 2023 kl. 13:42
you are a legend, seriously if you read this, really great job. Youve really helped me out, been trying to sort this out for good few hours now. I had stuttering each time i hovered over trade routes but now everything is great
Spartan VI 24. jan. 2023 kl. 15:00
@Pathfinder, I already checked Attila and it does not quite the same asset fetching "bug."
PathFinder 24. jan. 2023 kl. 8:10
Is it possible to make such performance patch for Attila? I managed to fix battle performance with number_of_threads in preference.script file but in campaign I still have like 20 fps and stuttering
Dr.WinstonOboogie 30. okt. 2022 kl. 23:04
Thanks for that helpfull Mod. Makes the game much more enjoyable to play.
Spartan VI 21. aug. 2022 kl. 18:47
@Colithiel, I tested Shogun 2 when I first discovered the bug and it's not present. As far as I can tell, the issue first made its appearance in Rome 2, but was at its worst in Warhammer 3.
Colithiel 21. aug. 2022 kl. 18:38
Thanks! To see this for Shogun 2 Total War would be awesome, nothing like running a 3080 and AMD 5900 to get 12 fps in the campaign LOL!
Marcovinchi  [ophavsmand] 21. juli 2022 kl. 19:57
It has little effect on battles, so no.
Mori The Vampire Lord 21. juli 2022 kl. 16:39
will this work in battles fps, i wana put the 2x unit amount mod on, but playing on crappy laptop and wen i do its really slow movement of ppl in battle like unplayable slow, wen i take mod off my game is fine, will this mod fix this?
LiptonDI 16. juli 2022 kl. 23:18
OMG, works perfectly, thank you so much for doing this, constant 60 fps with a RTX 3060 and an AMD ryzen 5, while before I had an average of 47 to 52 fps with drops going to the low 20s sometimes on the campaign map. Thank you so much :steamthis::steamthis::steamthumbsup:
Ski_Mississippi 12. juli 2022 kl. 17:51
using with DEI and it works
nathanjbramall 10. juli 2022 kl. 22:30
Its a simple little overlay, can't see that or unit cards causing that much stuttering. I read somewhere that auto pathing calculations for the units is doing it.
Spartan VI 5. juli 2022 kl. 11:09
That's most likely because you have an army or settlement garrison selected, which will also draw a "zone of control" VFX ring around the army/settlement. This visual effect is very GPU intensive and has been as far back as Shogun 2.
nathanjbramall 5. juli 2022 kl. 11:03
Well it has to be something to do with the actual unit cards, say you have the army tab open on a settlement that has no units in it, no stuttering. Issues happen (for me) only when unit cards are on screen.
Marcovinchi  [ophavsmand] 22. juni 2022 kl. 22:45
@nathanjbramall
I noticed that issue too before I uploaded the mod but I don't think it's necessarily the interface that's causing it.

@Gasmio
Yup.
Leondas 22. juni 2022 kl. 21:57
Hello is it compatible with DEI mod ?
nathanjbramall 19. juni 2022 kl. 22:00
After playing some more I noticed stuttering does still occur, but only when tabs relating to troops are open. If you left click on the map to close the tabs, or have tabs for settlements open it runs smoothly. Maybe that helps finding the problem?
nathanjbramall 16. juni 2022 kl. 13:46
Using this along with the Radious mod on a good PC with a 3080. The mod eliminates all stuttering for me, completely smooth movement across the map. Thanks.
Spartan VI 14. juni 2022 kl. 9:03
Attila has a similar issue, but it's limited to a small set of UI assets that don't even exist in any of the packs. Dummy files may work there, but I doubt it will have any measurable performance difference considering how limited the "asset loading issue" is in Attila.
AdamosTomatos 14. juni 2022 kl. 8:37
@Marcovinchi @Spartan VI
Please make one for Attila total war since that game suffer lots of fps issues
Calum 13. juni 2022 kl. 9:12
Worked great! The introduction at the start a game is now watchable because it doesn't stutter terribly when the camera pans!
Spartan VI 12. juni 2022 kl. 10:10
In my testing I've also found that Rome 2 is throwing out a bunch of asset calls that lead to dead ends, and there's a measurable performance drop each time this happens. However, I couldn't measure any performance difference between vanilla and the performance patch (from my own pack and this pack). My PC is relatively high-mid range though: Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 3060 Ti, 32GB DDR-3600, game is installed on a 2TB SATA SSD (SN550).
Marcovinchi  [ophavsmand] 12. juni 2022 kl. 9:59
You saved us all with the original mod. Cheers!
Spartan VI 12. juni 2022 kl. 9:50
Awesome, thanks for doing this on Rome 2 as well. Saved me the trouble! :chug:
Marcovinchi  [ophavsmand] 12. juni 2022 kl. 9:36
Hey, I have a laptop too with the following specs:
GTX 1660Ti 6GB
Intel i7-10750H
16GB DDR4 RAM
2TB NVMe SSD
...and the mod doesn't quite affect my game either so there's that. I uploaded it anyway because a few people do seem to benefit from it. Thanks for testing!
Overlord 12. juni 2022 kl. 9:05
Hi, using this with DEI. Doesn't seem to have had much of an effect, still lots of stuttering and fps drops. Playing on laptop:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU
32 Gigs of RAM
2070 super 8Gb
Marcovinchi  [ophavsmand] 12. juni 2022 kl. 1:19
@wWenck @CENTURION @Alexandros
Splendid!

@Paidas_Demetriou
It does but the effects are quite minimal.
Paidas Demetriou 11. juni 2022 kl. 11:17
You are genius. Is it possible this works also for the battlefields?
Devil May Cry 11. juni 2022 kl. 10:19
Definitely working even in a full map some enhanced visuals, and a very mid ass pc lol. Way less stuttering when moving around and wait when changing and selecting models/settlements
CENTURION 11. juni 2022 kl. 6:40
This is brilliant mate definitely can see an improvement when selecting armies and settlements, great work
wWenck 10. juni 2022 kl. 23:14
The test is passed.
The mod works as stated.
(SSD, Ryzen 5, 8 GB RAM)
Devil May Cry 10. juni 2022 kl. 19:58
Ah okay thank you i assumed there was no workaround the DB files whatsoever but I'll test it and give feedback when I make it home later for sure.
Marcovinchi  [ophavsmand] 10. juni 2022 kl. 19:00
There's no need for a DEI version as long as you put this at the bottom of your load order. The question is are you seeing any improvements?
Devil May Cry 10. juni 2022 kl. 17:19
After some testing would you consider a DEI version?
